Ok... I'm going to build some new wheels soon and started to look at Hope XC hubs and noticed the Pro 2's are not much more...

Now besides weight, whats the true difference/advantage of the Pro 2's over the XCs??

Dont just tell "oh they are way cooler" or some crap like that!! I want technical information as to what the differences are! Like one uses loose bearings vs. cartridge bearings, etc...

    Thanks!

The main difference in the front hubs is that the Pro 2 is convertible to 20mm with a couple of adaptors. If you're not concerned about grams I would definately go with the Pro2 hubs......the weight difference is that huge anyway if memory serves me right. Don't ask me for technical details cause I'm too lazy to go there :p

whats funny is, at least on Jensons site, the Pro 2's weighed less than the XC's.... thats why I said "besides the weight" because they are listing them as being lighter...

Ahhhh yes, you're correct about the weight. I have the Hope Bulb hubs (the hubs that came before the Pro2's were out) and have had zero issues with them. Even if you don't see yourself going with a 20mm fork anytime soon the Pro2's would be the wiser choice if you ask me......just won't leave you stuck if one day you do decide to get a 20mm fork. The Pro2 and XC both use cartridge bearings (basically non maintenance/serviceable bearings) so I'd spend a little more and get a better more expandable wheelset with the Pro2's. I know Von Skipp has the Pro2's and he seems to like them. The rear hub is pretty loud.....but has a click...click...click sound to them and not the buzzing of King hub. You're only talking a few bucks more for the Pro2's anyway.

Yeah... Dont ask WHY, but when me and Jordan hit Jenson, I bought the front XC hub only and now im looking at the Pro 2's and thinking about getting those... I wrote Jenson to see if I can return the XC hub since it hasn't been used at all(still in the box) or if Im just screwed on that deal....

Yeah I roll the Pro II's. There light and smooth but lack quick engagement. I rode the Bulbs once and there a bit quicker. If you want quicker engagement than lightness go with Bulbs. If you want really quick engagements go CK.

I have a Hope XC rear hub. A year and half of zero issues.
For the front I will go with the Bulb or Pro2 for the axle flexibility.
