Since my beloved Avs got bested by the lowly Wild, my allegiances are no longer split. Go Ducks!!!!! If not Ducks, I do hope Montreal takes it. Seems like it's been a while for the Habs...

Possibly the most provocative statement ever issued on STR. We need George Carlin (RIP) to do a soccer v hockey monologue with the same awesomeness as his baseball v football comparison.

And yes, fundamentally, hockey is just soccer on ice - except 4x faster, in close quarters, with no out of bounds and no vague "stoppage time" and you can go behind the goal, and you can hit your opponent if they have the puck, and you're penalized for real - not just a turnover or a yellow card...

Other than that, they're pretty much the same sport... Oh yes, and except for the fundamental difference in approach to injury mentioned above. "It's merely a ruptured spleen - I'm fine..."

Now, if you don't mind, I have to go finish watching the Brazil v England friendly. I hear they are in stoppage time tied at nil, but Fernandinho appears to be seriously injured... oh wait, he's up...

 

I am not a huge Hockey fan ... but have watched the Kings and Ducks runs in the past etc both really excting... but Playoff Hockey... that's different... First I look for Kings or Ducks games...but then I look around for any tied game in the 3rd period... nothing better than that. Wife even like to watch it....

I have Kings and Ducks friends... going to have fun stirring the pot.

Think I'm pulling for the Kings... (Best Hockey Announcer Voice) "Quick goes after Thorton... and its getting ugly out there!"

-Pretty sure I will be offered Kings tickets...
(Gonna pass on that one. Do NOT want to risk watching a kings loss- live and in person)

-Pretty sure I won't be watching any of the games LIVE (they will all be DVR'd).
1. I will have a heart attack. 2. Severe levels of depression will set in if we lose to that team.
If the Kings win, I will watch the game in its entirety (on DVR). If they lose, I will look at the box score of the game- only watch the segments when for Kings score. 8-[

-My "hatred" of the Ducks may be stronger than my (life-long) love affair with the Kings!

-I am NOT a fan of Corey Perry. I do not like him as a player or as a person.
Nicest way I could say it. (will save the 100 reasons why for another time)

-Can not wait for the dozens of texts I am going to receive from Ducks fans (they are not my friends during this series) asking if "I am watching the game" or if I saw how "amazing" that (ducks) goal was. Really looking forward to that one!!!

-Can't wait for the dozens of texts from FRIENDS the moment the KINGS win the series!

Trust me.. I can keep writing for three hours!

I am always haunted by this guy. As a Colorado fan, I can remember my wife and I issuing that expletive-filled statement repeatedly over many seasons as "Gabby" had his way with the Avs. Here he is again, messing with the team I am supporting - too fast and too good for most defenders.

"F---ing Gaborik!"
