Does anybody here have a complete list of the waterfalls in and around Southern California? Stuff like names, trailheads, directions, areas, etc would be very helpful. Maps anybody? I'de really like to do some more exploring.

Here's a link to the CNF map showing Black Star.
    http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/forestvisitormaps/cleveland/north/06.php

Section 30 at the U-turn at the pipes is green = CNF property. That's where the hike to the falls would be.

Note that Black Star Mtn Rd is Orange County Highway 82.

I also think map makers in this area have gotten pretty ambitious.

Black Star Canyon Wilderness Park? and Upper Trabuco Canyon Wilderness Park? There are no such things and no Federal Wilderness north of Ortega. It would take an act of Congress to designate this - and so far DiFi has kept her hands off this one.

Baxter Canyon? - I thought this was Baker Canyon?

Limestone Canyon is shown as park. While it is proposed; it isn't a public park yet.

    STT is called Joplin Trail

planning to do a blackstar ride tomarrow and would love to see the falls after the rain. Once you hit the concrete tubes is there a pretty well defined trail to follow? or is there some bushwackin involved? any special ways to go? I have a habit of liking to get lost in the wilderness so any landmarks would be appreciated

I would wait till after the rains since it will be very muddy on Black Star and your tires will load up with the clay type dirt.

Would you recommend hiking in rather than riding in to see the waterfall

i'd be careful if I went over there now. The narrow cyn that the falls are in has many flash floods

How far up is the waterfall, can you reach it on your bike? I have been up blackstar, however, did not see the waterfall, went up to beaks. Would love to see it this weekend.

So I did this hike today and as I came out there was a white truck on the inside of the gate and this old guy just standing there talking to a mountain biker. As we walked past he looked at us and said "Looks like you guys been somewhere you shouldn't of been". I just told him it looked fine on the map and walked away. As we were driving out 2 cops cars where coming flying down the road. Anyone know what was going on?
