Are you serious? Are you implying that we would be better of if the hikers had died because the search would have been cheaper? I am very glad they were found alive. And Gene is right, the tone of this thread would have been much different if the hikers hadn't made it.
Dry humor. Relax guy. And Gene, my comment was more of a comedic kick-off point, not directed at you.
I watched this video today and she was pathetic, amnesia? They should send them a bill for the search and rescue and simply make them incur legal expense to litigate...what a couple of delta bravos...everyone searching for them because of their own dumb stoned selves...good job on the rescue, now send the mfers the bill. Tell them that we forgot to give this to you at the hospital, you may not remember but you cost us a shit load of money and time...
Are they for real??? This is becoming so embarrassing. Saying she was fighting off an animal the first night? Thought they might not make it through the night since they ran out of water???? You can make it for one night without water and hallucinations. They wanted to climb a hill to "touch the clouds".....Pleeaaaaase. I am embarrassed for them. I just hope someone will be held responsible for what led to such an expensive and dangerous "rescue"
When I was 19 I did alot of stupid shit on alot of stupid drugs and got away with it, I consider myself very lucky. Luck just wasn't on these dumbasses side this time, but I'm not going to throw any stones.... Nevermind I did alot of stupid things but one thing is different, I'm not ****ing stupid.
Future of America..........shining brightly indeed! At least for now we can still import college graduates...........until we raise tax too high.#-o
I believe they are representative of all "hikers" and therefore "hikers" should be banned on all public trails as they are clearly a danger to themselves and the general public.
Nice post. So much water under the bridge. My take = hallucinations + concussions=near death. Thanks to everyone who helped out, prayers for the SAR who plunged 60 feet (a man who reached out to help), innumerable volunteers, harried parents, frustrated public. mountain bikers who looked for the couple, friends and family--bless you all, let the couple learn their lesson, and let's just move forward, and let it go, as Al Pacino likes to say, "Forget About It." Let's move on.
Just saw that someone set up a fund to help the family pay for the SAR bills. Too bad people will donate even though the circumstances in which they got into trouble will be kept hush hush.
Have they gotten SAR bills? Typically, one isn't billed for such things in CA. I wish we had a program like I've heard of in Colorado, where you buy some kind of SAR insurance for like $20 and it funds SAR programs.
