Hey guys, my name is Jon and i'm a long time mountain biker. I'm 23 now and first got into the sport when I was 12 watching Tomac and crew ride Intense M1's. I just discovered this site a few months ago but haven't gotten around to introducing myself. I just got the new Intense Tracer and am trying to sell my old 06 GT. For some reason, it's not letting me post in the classifieds... any reason besides my noobness? I usually ride the local trails (aliso, whiting, trabuco, el moro, etc.) with a good friend of mine and am down for larger group rides. Ok i just saw the 25 post count sticky, so I got some work to do!
Hey Jon, I'm in the same situation..I just bought an IBIS Mojo and want to sell my Santa Cruz Blur, but can't post yet. No biggie.... Where did you get the Tracer from ? I seen one at the BikeCo and it looked really nice. I used to own a 2000 tracer, so it brought back some good memories. -Rick
I got the tracer from competitivecyclist. Drew was a great help, even after like 10 changes to my order during my 9-week wait time >< It just shipped yesterday so i can't say anything until next week, but i'm really excited! My GT was a great bike, I'm just a big guy and really notice the flex when pedal mashing. Plus.. well it's an Intense! I've wanted one since I was 12.
Nice! I'm over by Harvard and Barranca. I'm a slow climber though, but I can manage up Trabuco (with 20 or so stops ). Definitely better going down than up.
Me three! I live on the same corner. I call it the Shady Cyn Loop Trail- just a tad over 11 miles. Exhilarating at night, too.
Shady Canyon loop? what the hell.. i've biked here for like 10 years and i haven't heard of this... Is it "legal"?
Of course! It's all paved. I start it out my front door, over the 405 overpass, up the steep hill into Shady Cyn., through Shady Cyn. to Culver, pass Uni High, through the wilderness area below Concordia Univ, pass Strawberry Farms Golf Course, back down the hill towards 405 and back over the overpass! I've got it down to 49 minutes. This is a cardio option when I don't have time to get to trailheads. It works!
It depends on your definition of legal, some areas are no night riding, most of bommer/Shady is busty but linking through to LCWP/El Moro is legit enough and does not require docent supervision?:?: JamR feel free to chime in, I have been at Culver and the five for the last year and am moving by the end of the month. Gonna miss the "Tustin Loop" for night rides but there are so many more options in the coastal range. That paved trail rocks too, or you can loop around the lake there are too many options in Irvine...
OOOH I thought you guys were talking about somewhere like Bommer canyon or something. Yeah i've ridden the shady canyon loop on my roadie plenty of times. That first hill is a nice warmup You should take a right after you exit shady canyon to ride turtle rock dr to ridgeline for a nice bomb downhill.
Its an 06 iDrive 5 2.0. I posted it up over in the marketplace: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/for...illa-r-float-r-xt-new-tires-pedals-chain.html price is OBO of course Elisheva, i'll ride the loop on sunday and let you know what time I clock.
Hey, John, Did you used to go to UCI? If so, I think you lived in the same dorm as you.. I live on Harvard and Walnut. I usually ride Whiting, Aliso, Santiago Oaks, or El Moro, and also in Turtle rock. I'm also looking to upgrade to an Intense but I want a M3.
