Well Saturday was the third race at the Fontana Winter Series, and what another FUN day it was! It's great to go out there and see all of our friends, and we are always meeting new ones. We got to meet jfromlv, and shudder and his son. Shud, I know your proud of your boy for just being out there! Man, Jason you and your brother pretty freaking fast on the Super D!:bang: I didn't race XC, only Super D. But my little girl, she's another story...... I got to ride around to different areas of the course for pictures, and got to watch Lacey go back and forth with another one of the womens sport racers. I recognized Monica, she was the lady that beat Lacey by two minutes at the last race. But I didn't know who this other lady was. Was there three in her group this time? Is she in second? No, wait she's leading! Oh, back to second. "STAY WITH HER LACEY"!!! Lacey went down at the sandy turn, just after the rock roller, on the first descent. Man, I missed the crash picture by a millasecond! she crashed just after I took this.... I was able to get back to the starting climb, just in time to see Lacey taking the lead back... All of this time Monica was just behind Lacey and this other woman. As we stood and watched them come in, Lacey was just behind, and then, DOWN SHE GOES! Lacey washed out in one of the sandy turns heading towards the finish. before she came in, we saw two other racers go down arouns the same area. Lacey ended up taking FIRST place in the Sport Womens 34-Under class! Come to find out, the other woman was in the 35-Over Sport Womens class. Lacey finished with a time of 1 hour and 59 seconds, with Monica comming in just a minute behind her. And if all that wasn't enough, she went up and raced Super D, just a half hour after finishing. With Super D, they put everyone in the same catagory. Pros, experts, men, girls, all go off at 30 second intervals. Donny fixed it so Lacey could start off second to last, with me starting behind her. By the top of the first climb, we caught the guy that started before us. I passed them both on the fist decsent, and I'm pretty sure that's where Lacey passed him too. Lacey finished just two minutes behind me, and we both pretty much got smoked by the rest of the group. But you know what? We had FUN!! We want to thank the guy's at The Path http://thepathbikeshop.com/ and Mark and Keith at HOSS Technical Gear http://www.hossmtb.com/ for all their support. Here's one more shot I got. Andy AKA Rut riding the rock roller. See yopu guy's out at the next race:clap:
Hell yeah! Now I just wish he hurt like I do (just kidding). Hearty congrats to Lacey! That's mean ridin'.
Oh wow ... that is so awesome! Congrats. How old is Lacey? How long has she been mountain biking? Thanks for the pictures and report. It's great that you've gotten your daughter into this sport and that you two can ride together.
Hey, nice to meet both of you out there, and thanks for the kind words! Congratulations again to Lacey, I hope I can get my daughter focused in on riding more in the next couple of years!
Congrats Lacey! No way in hell am I doing a race that lasts 2 hours! LOL Lacey XC pics: Lacey at the Super D finish:
Congrats Lacy.... Now just a few more years and you'll have the ol man chasing you! We are all very proud of you!
as always congrats to Lacey and pops for supporting her all the way. Keep momentum up for rest of season!!!
Thanks! Lacey's 14. She started doing the harder rides with me, and the Path guys at around 12. Last year, at 13, she became the youngest female ever to finish the Counting Coup. It took her 10 hours. She smiled the whole time. My other two kids, Jake is 12, and Kaylee is 10, ride also. They just aren't into it like Lacey. That's not a bad thing, they just have different interests. There is nothing more fun to me than going out for a ride with all three of them.
Good job Lacy. And good job Tani for taking 1st DH expert class. Saw Tani's new World Cup Ironhorse today...sweet bike.
Hey Congrats to the Maxwell's again. Lacey is really kicking some serious a$$. You must have a room full of trophies by now Crash.
Congrats to Lacey, seeing how fast she is, and how fast she progresses makes me a bit happy to be getting older (35 + this year--just made it!). Congrats to all that raced this weekend!
