Does anyone know the name or who organizes the Black Friday ride down Sunset Ridge?

    Adding Loch Leven...

This is not part of this ride. It's 45-60min to climb to Angelus Oaks and then 2-3hrs more to climb both sections of the SART (uphill) to get to South Fork. So I wouldn't recommend it for this this ride.

    Cheers,
    AL

While snow would be 8) (<---see what did just there?), it would likely cut off the top of the route again.

I'd be like #-o. And then maybe :(. Until I got riding, when I'd be all 8). And everyone would be all, like, :bang:. Cuz we're ridin'! And it's so  after.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there in a few weeks. Something new that I didn't post in the original info is that we will be accepting donations of biking related stuff for the Redlands Bike BBQ http://www.bikebbq.com/ These guys are doing some great work to support the local cycling community.

We are still looking for volunteers to shuttle vehicles back down the hill. If you know anyone who could help out with this please bring them along.

I had some volunteers come out the past two weekends to clear trail on the east side of the Post Office. It is in great shape I am sure everyone will have a great time on that section of trail.

Unfortunately this year we did not have enough time to get to doing work on Morton Peak so please come prepared for dealing with overgrown bushes (sunglasses/sleeves/long socks) if you plan to do that section of the ride.

    Any questions, let me know...

I rode Lower SART weekend before last and the brush is not that bad but you will get pretty scratched up if you not covered up. The last singletrack out of Thomas Hunting Grounds is very loose and narrow and only people that know when to walk or have good bike skills should use that section. From Morton Peak down was a ton of fun and in decent shape.

The work we did was on the last single track out of Thomas Hunting Grounds. It was in bad shape (loose/narrow), its now wide and loose so it should be much more easier for those with lesser bike skills. I will be doing my best on Hellride to warn people about exposure and riding within their limits. It's a long day out there.

Seats and cages are good. Here is their wishlist: http://www.bikebbq.com/p/wishlist.html

You won't die, it will probably hurt, but it will be fun.

Weather is looking great for Saturday! Sunny, high in the 50's. Some of us just rode the Post Office loop yesterday morning, and it was a very chilly beginning (~30°F), but soon into the ride I was only wearing shorts, a light jersey, arm warmers, and a light windbreaker (warm gloves of course) and I was fine................. except for my toes. My toes didn't stop hurting until I was back in the car.

People, you won't need a parka, but take care of your extremities - warm gloves, insulated socks, ear protection, and light-duty wind protection.

The trail was simply awesome! Beautiful with 0-1" of snow in most places. Traction was great - the snow was dry and crunchy. Muddy in only a few places. Only on some of the fire road sections on the north-facing slopes was there any ice - but it must be respected when you encounter it.

If there's still any decision to be made about the route for Sat, I'd suggest keep it on as much single track as possible, and avoid the fire roads. More fun, and probably avoids most/all of the ice that may still exist by then.

Looks like the weather will be a little bit warmer than last year. Lots of sunshine forecasted for Saturday.

Oops,'didn't see the previous post. Sorry for repeating info

Just to add to the previous post. If you need some toe barriers for the cold temps slipping your feet or toes into a plastic bag keeps the cold wind from penetrating to your toes. It also serves a waterprooferfor those wet muddy sections

Yeah, avgrinch6 and I are going to commit. Gotta ride SART before it's too late. Is an avdventure pass required to park at south fork?
