    Hi I'm A new member and I'm starting mountain biking this weekend as my new sport. YAY! I just wanted to say hello. Any advice is very welcomed to me. I'm looking for a good place to go in the San Fernando Valley in L.A. County. I'm close to Rocky Peak trails but I don't know if the fire ruined the trails.

    Was up there Sunday morning, Rocky Peak is good to go, Chumash and Las Lajas were hit harder then RP but they are all rideable and with all the grading that went on they are very beginner friendly with just a but of climbing.

    Hi Thanks for the ideas I was looking at Caballero Cyn too. I will check it out more to ride in a few weeks.
    Also thanks for the Welcome. I'm starting this weekend with Western end of Victory above Valley Circle. Maybe the following Sat. I'll hit the Santa Monica mtns at Caballero Cyn top-south-end of Reseda. I'll check out your rides and your and photos. I hope your rides are cool this week.

    ^^ I was going to suggest the Victory trailhead. Parking is a buck (unless you park down the hill on Victory itself, but go ahead and pitch in a dollar and park in the lot -- it won't hurt!). There's tons of trails back in there in the Ahmanson Ranch area.
