The wife got into trouble after the little bridge at the bottom of BFI yesterday. She tried to bail and ended up crumpled up under her bike in the bottom of the wash. Broke her leg in two places and shattered her knee. Looks like surgery next week and then at least 6 weeks of recovery time.
Good thing we had a couple of other friends with us. We managed to carry her out to Moro Canyon where the ranger picked her up. If not for the other guys, she would have been taking a helicopter ride.

Ouch! So sorry to hear that, but glad you were able to get to help without calling the chopper.

6 weeks, eh? By "shattered her knee" did you mean the patella (kneecap)? I split mine some years back. Mine broke down the middle and re-aligned itself pretty well, so I was able to avoid surgery, but the rehab was more than 6 weeks. I spent 6-8 weeks in a knee brace and it was a couple more months until I was truly active again.

I hope hers heals quickly and fully. Treat her right and be supportive during the rehab. It does take some work to get it right again, but she'll get there.

Sorry to hear of your wifes misfortune. We (Boo and I) hope she heals well. Remember, proper recovery takes less time than a foolish recovery...rehab it well, and she will be just as good as new :)

I'm very sorry to hear about your wife's accident.
My friend's are starting to get a chuckle of my elbow pad's (and soon to add knee pads) on every ride. They think it's a bit excessive considering how slowly I descend. It only takes a split second for things to go horribly wrong.
I wish your wife a speedy recovery.

I did have a dish washer but now she has broken leg.

She fractured the top of the tibia where it meets the fibula. Judging by the x-ray there were at least 5 pieces of bone fragments.
