I went out to take pics last week. Unfortunately, this week we (meaning my daughter, with me driving) have Vball practice so I can't make it.

I say, enjoy the pics others have posted and jump in-ride it! :)

Anyone still attending this? Is it going on through the beginning or end of September? Over the Hump has taken all my attention. Might want to make it out after OTH.

Yup..still going strong. Start time last week was 6:15. Sometime in the next few sessions the start time might be moved up again to 6:00pm so we still have daylight to get the full hour in and be able to break down the race setup.

Last few weeks, the 4/5 crew has stayed quick, right around a 24-25 mph average with 50-60+ in the pelaton. That pace usually drops off about 15-20 who finish the race together.

BTW, each week's winner gets a case a beer.

I think its currently set to go through September.

Went by to watch the racing today. Looked like great fun right up to the point a racer crashed. OUCH! Loss of conscious, Facial Lacerations, and a Compound Forearm Fracture. Get well soon Duc!

Yup. Went to race the crit for the first time. Had never even watched a crit before. I was about 2 bikes behind the crash and veered left out of the way. The dude went down hard! Not sure how he went down but it didn't look good. Hope he heals up quick! I blew up trying to catch back up to the lead group. Dropped out with 2 laps to go. I'm just glad I survived.

Word is a concussion and compound fracture of one of his arms...was right behind him in the blue kit...he touched his front wheel to the one ahead and left and went down without ever taking his hands off the bars...the bike bounced right when he went down.

Ouch...hopefully he is okay. What caused him to hit the guys wheel in front of him?

Can only imagine he crossed wheels? Thats why they say. Never cross wheels! Number 1 rule of staying safe in a peloton.

I figured that :). I meant more along of was it his fault, did someone hit the brakes when they shouldn't have, or what not. But you are correct, you never want to cross wheels. I had two people do that to me while I was in Indiana where they crossed my back wheel, and they both went down.

The GPC is a great crit/circuit race! The tarmac is wide open, there are some big straightaways and Chris and his wife really make the event fun and "family" like. They know most of the racers out there and cheer everyone on! Guaranteed to make you breathe hard and sweat heavy. Tonight's race had a bad crash with a rider down, I believe people were saying he broke both his arms and had a compound fracture lost a lot of blood and hit the tarmac chin first, it was horrible (kinda like Voigt)..I was watching cuz I broke the old clavi at El Dorado two weeks ago....Fun stuff. Pray for a speedy recovery for the guy on the Ridley I think they called him Ironman.

    Sorry for reporting redundantly....

After a dissappointing DNF on my first race, I was much more conservative in my 2nd attempt tonight. I just sat in till the bell lap and finished a respectable 19th. I need to learn a bit more strategy at the end but I'm just glad I finished the race.

Great job! Congrats! It's tough to jump into the race series towards the end, when everyone is ramped up and going for points for a title. That's an awesome finish for your second race under those circumstances!
