I'm riiding there and merely hoping to hang onto the Masters for a few laps. I'll be on a Colnago with a white n red polka dot Dude Girl jersey. :)

    Good luck & have fun!

I saw one of the guys from ShoAir took the win in the 4/5s, how did you do?

The Masters were a bit sluggish today, not that I wanted to be out in the wind--it wasn't in my training plan ;)

Stevers, nice meeting you; I hope you were able to stay and watch a bit. What did you think?

Anyone racing this weekend? Long Beach is having a little bike fest and there is a race in Dominguez Hills on Sunday ~ Master's Championships.

I would, but they don't have a Cat 5 I could race in. Probably better anyway since I have two papers due on Tuesday.

yep, that was my friend Hunter, he took the win and is looking pretty solid.. I came in with the sprint group so I'm hoping for top 10, we'll see tho.. overall performance was good, never got the "i might get dropped feeling"... avg pace was 24.6mph(w/headwind), alot faster then last week.

    time for a beer..

It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I had to leave around 6:10, so I wasn't around for the race to start. It was still immensely useful to chat with you and check out the course. The course looked a lot longer than the 1.5 miles in the flyer, but I guess it doesn't really matter, since it's more based on time. I'm likely going to participate next week, so I'll see everyone there! (Blue Spec Roubaix, probably wearing velosport or UCI gear)

It was also encouraging to see fellow clydes there. Not the barely 200lbs+, but like the 260+ ppl like me.

Yeah the pace was much better this week. Last week was my first one so i just hung in the pack but this week i went for it on the first prime lap prob got in the top 10 for sure. Pulled some on the last few laps trying to set my teamate up for a sprint in the end but he was in bad posistion. I was in a Revo kit. These are cool and its sure nice that they are 10 minutes from my house.

I didn't know you were UCI. You should contact the club and get in touch with Todd. UCI has a great club, with great rides, coaching, and experience. Todd has done several of the ElDo series and was at the first GP2, he has introduced several of the UCI guys (and girls) to racing; he would be a great resource got you.

OK, dumb question from a non-roadie:
What exactly is the definition of a Crit?

Thanks. I'd have looked it up, but I wasn't even sure what the full version of the abbreviation "crit" was #-o

I'm actually not UCI, technically. I graduated 5-6 years ago, and saw someone with a UCI jersey. I just bought the jersey from Bike Religion on campus, but I'm not really affiliated with the cycling club.

Edit: can't participate today. Something came up.

I wasn't out tonight, did they change the course? When I talked to Chris last week, he said they were not planning on changing the course.

Stevers, the UCI cycling club is for undergrads, grads, faculty, blah blah blah. Check it out, as they are a GREAT resource for everything from training programs to race advice/tactics, and Todd seems to really help riders who are new to racing if he's at the race (or ElDo or Great Park). Plus, they have a few group rides which can help you get used to the closeness of crit racing. :) http://clubs.uci.edu/bike/new2/contact.php

They made it so there wasn't such a short run into the finish. you turn left earlier, then right with a good length to get speed up.

Anyone headed out Thursday night? I'm going to head down for the first time, not sure if I'm riding or taking pics.
