So I had a nasty spill this weekend @ the Luge off a cliff. I'm not sure how it happened but my front tire might have slipped on something on the last section of the ride. Here's the video filmed using the handlebar mount the crash is at the end of the film. The BIke and Gopro are okay! I'm lucky to walk away with only some scrapes and bruises. Thanks to my buds who helped with the rescue.

Bet you banged your head pretty good with that spill. Good to hear you walked away just fine.

Jump to 15:30 for the crash lol.... unless you want to watch the entire trip down from old camp

Hope you are feeling better, that looks like it happened super fast!

Hey Fellas thanks. It was a very unlikely place to crash very unexpected. I think I might have had too much air in my tires as they were tubeless @ 35 psi. Luckily no head injury just really bad trail rash from sliding downwards and a very bruised rib cage. @ Work with a heatpad on my ribs and my coworkers a cracking up at the video. LoL.

Sometimes the mantra "Speed is your friend" applies. If you're going too slow with your fingers on the brakes and you hit a hole, you're going to inadvertently apply brake and endo.

Also, that's the worst music I've listened to on a mountain biking video. :-\

How'd you end up getting yourself and the bike back up? Luge is steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Glad you're alright. I've always been scared of falling off there myself I just keep tellin' myself to not look that way.

Thanks for the pointers but I ruled out the braking part I never had a chance to apply the brakes. As for going too slow I don't think it was that either I think I shouldve actually slowed down to pick my line better.

Tell me about it. I rolled downwards a couple times before sliding feet first before grabbing onto a tree branch. Two of my buddies were behind me and they can probably vouch I wasn't going slow. They went down and helped pull the bike up. I climbed my way back up.

Have you tried mounting the camera on the helmet? The handle bar mounting seems to show a lot of unnecessary movement up and down. Thanks for sharing...

Admit it, OMR: You wished for the helmet mount so you could see the tumble!

Over the side on a trail like Luge is one of my worst fears. Glad you made it out without major damage!

Reminds me of the scene from "Basic Instinct", where Michael Douglas is trying to keep up with Sharon Stone at the techno dance club.
    She was hawt.

Nice footage of one of my favorite training climbs: STT up to Old Camp and back down the Luge... One time I took the jeep trail to the left of old camp trail that leads down to trabuco creek (not bike friendly, much hike a bike)and then a long ride back to cooks corner. Looks like alot of pretty MTB girls out that day! The Luge has got to be one of the worst places to go down on Yikes! my nads start hiding every time i point my 29'r down it.

I agree the handlebar mount gives way too much trail feedback but its neat to see it from another POV. That's actually my first ride with it mounted on the handlebar. The helmet mount is my favorite. Thanks.

Haha thanks... finally someone noticed the MTB girls I've seen more and more on the trails lately. Remember to give them encouragement.
