    Hi,

Do you guys mind if a new guy (and a roadie at that) tags along? :)

I got into biking about a year ago after being sedentary for the last 15 years or so, but I've spent the past year mostly on the road bike, with only a handful of rides that have been off road. Anyway, I've been puttin' around the house for the past few days on a borrowed mtn. bike, and I've been itching to give dirt riding more of a try. So, if you guys don't mind a new guy tagging along, I'd like to make this ride. I promise to leave the lycra at home. :)

    Tom,
You're surely welcomed! :welcome: Although I've missed the last couple weeks, the Sunday morning loop ride is a lot of fun. Because it is mostly a social ride with many stops, you'll have no problem keeping up, if not leading.

If you're not familiar with the loop, it's not that technical - you could even ride a road bike on it, well...almost. If you want to be a little more adventurous, there are many fun and slightly technical extra credit sections that parallel the main loop that many take.

The Sunday loop ride is a good primer for meeting some of the great folk here on STR. Hope to see you out there. Also, the Thursday night loop ride is a little bit quicker paced, but I believe you'd be fine, considering your roadie background. There are also typically a lot of people on the Thursday night rides as well. You would be amazed to see what it's like riding with 30-50 new friends.

Oh, I just realized that this was posted in the Thursday night ride thread and not the Sunday morning ride thread.

I was actually thinking of doing the 'newb friendly' Tuesday ride tomorrow because it seems like it would be a nice and relaxed way to ease myself into it, but I already committed to something else that night. Looks like the Thursday group will be stuck with me this week. :D

I'm right off of the loop and it rained about 1/4 of inch...off and on. Pavement was wet then dry then wet...I think the loop should be ok as long as it does not rain too much tonight.

I'll post more rain report in the morning.

The pavement is still wet but it got some dry spots too. Not exactly sure how much it has rained at night. Good thing we didn't have rain for a few weeks.

To be safe it might be good not to ride fully but people is going ride anyways. How about just take it easy and avoid the muddy spots?

Unless the trail is in good condition, I am not sure I want to ride this evening. Either way, I will be at The Parking lot by 6:30... will be stopping by Roscoe's later in the evening!

Looking forward to trail (condition) updates...

I'll be there. Anyone ridden the loop today? How is the trail? I'd like to run the 5:00p and the 6:45p.. weather permitting.

That was too much fun. :D I had such a good time that I decided it would be worth while to invest in some real shoes/pedals for the rig and ride it more often.

I'm horrible with names, so I won't even try and name those responsible for not leaving me behind, but I do remember Bert because the poor guy was conned into riding up that mean hill in the beginning of the ride. I also remember Alex because he's the other road guy there. :) See you all next time.

    Tom,
I'm terrible with names too. Which guy were you? I was on the black singlespeed with gold hubs.
