For the early lap, maybe. Not for the second lap though - it's getting lighter quick, but not that quick, and it'll still be dark before we're done.
Those days are coming soon though!

The problem with lights like that is that you tend to outride your beem and not give you sufficiant light far enough ahead of you. Come on out, there are guys who have extra lights.

I'm 95% sure I will be able to make it! My first STR ride, my first time at the Fully loop, AND my first time with my new light.

I'm pretty easy to spot... 6'5" with the blue niner. I've never met any of you guys, so if you hear me wheezing or spot the bike please say hey.

I only plan on doing the second lap as I don't know if I can hang with you fast guys on the first lap. See you guys / ladies tomorrow night.

went for a ride just now to the bank with my 1w led headlight... i don't think it will be enough to see when i am bombing down the fully hills... i am going to try to pick up another one or return this one and get a better one? my budget is quite small at the moment... so i may in worst case, just need to slow down on the down hill parts...

I've been finding some great deals on some older 6v halogen parts and systems lately on the bay.

I found a 4.5mah NiMh NiteRider battery pack for my Digital HeadTrip for $0.99 with $7.00 shipping. Even came with a charger.

Then I found a 5.7mah NiCd water bottle style battery that goes with my Marwi 6v systems for $10.50. This also came with a wal-wart charger.

Then yesterday, I bagged a 6v NiteRider 15w lighthead w/wired remote button for $9.75. The bulb is worth more than that.

I saw a 6v NiteRider setup with two 15w lights (1 helmet and 1 bar mount) with two batteries and a speare bulb go for $34 last weekend.

The point is that these older systems are being let go for some very reasonable prices right now by people that are likely going for the newer technology of LED's.

The LED's are cool, but for the price, the older 6v halogen systems are great bang for just a few bucks.

You can get a 10,000mah water bottle battery built for around $50-$60 that will power a 12w light for 5 hours or a 24w system for 2.5 hours.

I have found several of these very cheap lately. I have two Marwi 6v two light 24w (12w flood + 12w spot and another with 15w spot + 20w flood) bar mount setups. I actually use the 24w setup more over the 35w for the extended runtime as the light is plenty for me.

I made up a bunch of batteries ( 8 ) from old RC car packs to go with the four water bottle batteries.

Right now I have four two-light bar mount lights, one single light bar light and three helmet lights. All are 6v halogen so I can mix and match many of the batteries and charge them with my old RC chargers quickly and easily.

    Why, you ask?

I have two kids that also ride and occasionally have friends that need a light to ride with us.

At any rate, the point is, you can get into a very serviceable light setup for dirt cheap so long as you don't need the latest and greatest technology.
