...OK, I'm officially bored. I went back to the scene of the carnage to make some sense of it. The only sense I could find was NOT to ride at night... downhill... really fast... without LIGHTS! Anyway, here are a few shots of the hill. I believe the last one is where Keith and bike met the tree... Get well soon Keith!

I know of another girl that bombed that hill before. Smacked head on into that same tree and cracked her helmet open, but her head was ok...

It was a group from the old Felcyn bike shop rides....

Dam, after seeing what the abuse the bike took, looks like it could have been much worse.

Well, at least you can spend your down time bike shopping....

That is some crazy damage. You sure you didn't get up after the first hit, go back up the hill, then hit it again for good measure?

Get well soon, and happy bike hunting!

Damn Keith, you taught that tree a lesson!

Update on my co-worker xavier . . . x-rays were negative. Knee is still swelled and bruised as is the elbow. He's been limping around the office but it looks like he'll be okay in a week or so.

Gene . . . he wanted to thank you for your help.

My days as an environmentalist are over! Its clear to me now that trees are evil. They need to be stopped. And we have to stop them.
I'm going to fix chainsaws to my axles and lay waste to entire forests...then again maybe thats just may meds talking:lol:

Look at the damage to the trail by everyone skidding their rear tires....6-8 months ago that section of the trail wasn't rutted and bumped out like that....IT is also a section that lights are needed especially when there are a bunch of riders b/c of the low lying dust...

I wasnt going to say anything but yes - totally correct on both counts. It was ridiculous of me to ride that without lights and the ruts are certainly from people whose idea of a controlled descent is to lock the rear brake and roll down destroying the trail. Ever heard of brake modulation???

Using the straight line equations of motion i calculated that I was doing approx 31mph when i hit the tree - thats a guess on the angle of the slope and its length and neglects friction.

Sorry to hear about the crash, Keith. Those pics are brutal.

I couldn't help but mentally tally up the parts destroyed, and that's an expensive crash.

So does this mean you get to take the hospital bills back to England & get reimbursed by the cashier?
