Its always tough to hear about another brother of the tribe passing

FULLERTON – A yearly vacation to relax after the hectic tax season ended in death Saturday for a 56-year-old Fullerton certified public accountant who was killed after losing control of his mountain bike and plunging off a cliff while bicycling down Bolivia's "Death Road."
La Paz firefighter Ramiro Torres told The Associated Press that Kenneth Mitchell died after falling about 230 feet. The road is popular among mountain bikers.
The area is known for its views, hairpin turns and steep drops. Bus accidents killed hundreds of Bolivians a year there until a new paved highway opened in 2007, the AP reported.

I just looked at some Youtube of the road and It is a Gorgeous place. Evey one on the tour videos had a Kona with a triple crown, full face helmet, the works.

This stinks. My Prayers to his Family and Friends. Did anyone know him very well? Was he part of the STR Family?

I know that highway...the most treacherous road on the planet. Sorry to hear about his passing. I wouldn't ride or even drive down that road myself. Yikes.

PBS series "Desert Speaks" did a story on that road. As I remember the road was not paved...looked like a interesting ride.

very sad. sounds like a guy who really enjoyed life. certainly looks like a fun ride. clearly a bunch of "beginner/intermediate" riders in the vid...just hope they weren't over their head as I have unfortunately seen this stuff quite a bit when on holiday whether they are bringing novices on scuba, beginners on heli ski/board, etc.

again very sad and best wishes to family

He was probably simply trying to demonstrate how the other guy went wrong.

That's sad. My girlfriend and her hubby rode that (and they're don't usually even ride) on a recent trip and she said it was a hairy crazy road.
