    Fullerton Loop 6-17-11

Work being done today in Hiltscher Park after Euclid till 2:00. Dropping trees. Watch for trucks, trees, loader. Early next week some more grading will take place. In July (I hope)this area will be fenced off completly for major trail enhancements. That means detour will take you up Euclid , go left on Valencia Mesa to RR tracks.

Cant believe your asking me this question. The loop is what to loop is ( boring or not ). We cant have everyone with a shovel out digging on City trails. Please do not bootleg in a bunch of little kicker jumps to please yourself.
    Thanks

Just came across this in Local Paper thought Id share :
FULLERTON – Construction on the Hiltscher Trail, between Euclid Street and La Mesa Drive, is scheduled to begin before the month's end.
The 1.4-mile trail will be closed between Euclid and La Mesa during construction, which should take three months, officials said.Upgrades include grading and realigning the trail, plus installing decomposed granite, landscaping, irrigation, a rock wall, wood steps and fencing.
The construction contract cost is $233,218.

Today and Saturday the trail is closed after Euclid from 6am to 3pm. Detour up Euclid take left on Valencia Mesa catch trail again after Bastanchury Rd.

Starting July 5 this part of the trail will be closed for a couple of months for upgrades. This area will also be fenced off during this period.

Q: will the closure be for all of Hiltscher Park or just the small section after Euclid? I rode it yesterday and noticed the sign before you drop in at Juanita Cooke.

    Thanks.

Edit: (I think) the sign indicated Hiltscher Park trail will be closed after 7/5.

I rode through there on Saturday at around 10:30 am. Although there was a crew working, there was no problem passing through, providing you're cautious of the workers and the equipement.

As I understand it, the portion west of Euclid is where the work is. But, I did want to mention the bypass that I prefer. I think its a bit safer than riding on Euclid (which I will not do).
I do not drop into Hiltscher at all. I continue straight on Juanita Cooke, cross Bastanchury at signal, ride up Morelia, left at Laguna, left at RR tracks, ride RR tracks past Euclid then continue on RR tracks towards Parks and pick up the trail from there.

Or....at Richman Knoll(the street crossing at the closed gate, before you get to Euclid Street) make a right. Ride up to Valencia Mesa and make a left on Valencia Mesa and follow that to Bastanchury which will get you back on the trail by the "farm animals".

The orange "trail closed" catch fence is up! Checked it out yesterday to see what they were up to. Doesn't look like too much right now.
Old Way, how long will it be closed and what are they doing? Just curious...

    shitty

Maybe they'll put a six pack down in the flat area. You could drop in a little higher up Euclid and hit em! Just wishin'.....

I think a couple of months. Where is the fencing? Is it only blocking off the small section after Euclid?

The fence is located right after you cross Euclid. It's just blocking the small section from Euclid up the lil hill to Valley Veiw. They are detouring you north on Euclid, left on Valencia Mesa and on down to the farm.

    shitty
