surferguy24th posted this on geoladders dated yesterday; There was a bunch of companies already out there getting ready for the national. Some of the track has changed. At the long road climb it cuts off the road and goes along where the downhill section is but you climb it, then it jumps back on right before the top. After hurl hill (the hardest one) there is an alternate for Pros........The course was very marked off so I you should have no problem. The course was very sandy and loose.

    This route; http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=431

I am thinking of getting out there a little earlier tomorrow and getting a lap in as close to the course as possible. I won't have the warm fuzzies if I can't get one run in before the race. Then see how the DH and Super-D course's look. I'll post my deep and meaningful insights tomorrow night. :)

Just wondering, does this "... course inspection and training." mean "...inspection and practice ..." ?

I know it's been a while but that seems kinda weird if it does. Should you not have done your training prior to the race weekend? ;)

Practiced the Expert DH today, and am happy to say it is an expert course:bang:! The top section is different than any course I've done out there, then it meets up with where the Collegiate course ran last November, if anyone knows where that is, climbs up the saddle, goes in a similar direction to last years course after the saddle, with new twists and turns through the rocks. Bottom rock garden has a new little turn thrown in there, and then, of course, the wall.
Saw Sharky out there snapping photos, see you guys out there!

Yes, training = practice in the eyes of NMBS. Semantics.

    Nationals course (and State)

Keep losing connection so will only have a few to post but here are a few vids and pics but was only at the lower section. The Pro course goes down the waterfall here but the Beg gets that section taped off and takes them around to the left.

The whole one lap vs two laps thing is funny. I did the Fontana race 2 yrs ago, beginner. At the start line we were told that it would be 2 laps--at the START! At least they got it cleared up now :)

Have fun Guys! Just read the thread, looks like it's been pretty crazy trying to figure all the stuff out.

As far as XC and ST goes, look out for some big guns! This is a UCI race so many XC (although i've heard some aren't coming cause they don't like fontana) Pro's will be out gathering points for worlds and the olympics. Pro womens short track is always a blast to watch- They are crazy driven and fast! (actually I think the reason ST is for pro women only is for their UCI point series)

    Good Luck and have Fun!

Sorry if this has already been posted I haven't had time to read all of the pages but www.pinnedmtb.com has daily coverage of at least the DH and 4X pro news and stuff. Not sure if they'll venture into the sport and expert classes but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Good luck to all who race this weekend. Wish I could be there. Racing vibes goin' your way and keep the rubber side down!! GO STR!

Rode the XC course twice to get a feel for it. It is pretty fast. Some sand patches here and there, and it is a little loose in places too, but nothing major. I pinch flatted on a rock at the bottom of a small hill just before the paintball area, need to avoid that one for the race. I am running some skinny ass tires (2.0/1.95) so will up the pressure a bit too. I had let some out because it felt better on the downs but then blammo!

The Super-D course is on the same course as the XC for some portions, I didn't have time to just ride Super-D alone (will do that sunday). It cuts in with the XC at the end too, so that was the one section I don't think has been included in the few Super-D's I've done out there before.

ton's of people out there, quite the scene. Lot's of vendors and what looked like some good food stands too.

    good luck everyone!!
