How are the wide bars when standing up and mashing uphill on the SS?

Im using 711 sunline bars as well. They feel great and they make me feel in control.
    Highly recommend them!

Another vote for the Sunline V1 745mm bars. 19mm rise, nice sweep, pretty decent weight wise, indestructible so far and awesome. Give you great body position right off the bat as well as theoretically, a better position for taking full and deep breaths [with broad shoulders and arms]. Theoretically. At any rate, they rock, i love them. I have only had one near encounter with tree/bar end, but that turned out OK;) Nice trim lines make them easy to cut too. I see no downside to them. Cheers!

Another vote for the V1's in 745mm and 19mm rise. Love them on the trail bike. Also run Syncros bulk carbon's on the single that are 28" wide. I don't think I will ever go back to anything less than 28 inches. The make some techy sections interesting though. I have wedged myself in chunky sections on the V1 a couple times.

    Cheers,
    Andy

excellent. I freakin wrench on the things like a mofo. I dont get the 'i feel like i'm doing push ups' feeling after a SS ride anymore.

But... i'm kinda wide build.

Me too, I've got pretty wide shoulders. I'm looking for some new bars for my single speed.

quality bar! very comfortable rise and sweep, the width is perfect for a DH rig, especially for bigger guys with wide shoulders and long arms.
and don't even get me started on Deity's customer service.. it's top notch.

for the gram counters - these bars come in at 290g on the dot.

I heard a rumor that I may be getting a Syncros FR31 bar for X-mas. For now I run a RaceFace Altas FR cut to 30" (Original length is just under 31") and have a Deity Dirty30 on the way for my other bike until the Syncros gets here.

The Atlas works well, feels pretty good even though it does have that "ProTaper" feeling, meaning a little bit of give when torqued on or on a hard impact but they have stayed straight even after a couple good get-offs.

I was in the same boat, I went from 25.5" bars to 30". It did take a few runs but once you get used to it there is so much more control, especially in the rough stuff at speed. Just start cutting them but only do 1/8" at a time from either side.
Cut - ride - cut if needed once more - ride - etc etc etc

Other wise you may take to much off and waste a perfectly good bar.

I have the RF bars too and after one day of riding i like them. They would suck in tight tree sections but past that seem to be great.

I run Sunline 745mms on my trail and 4X bike. My DH bike has uncut 800mm FSA Gravity Lights.

At 6'5" and with wide shoulders the wider bars are more comfortable and offer better leverage.

STAY AWAY FROM THE PIPE CUTTERS!!!!!!

The actual and factual proper way to cut a handle bar is a hacksaw. Sorry Pipe cutter dont cut, the fold and push. that can make stress cracks, which can lead to failure.

I learned that the hard way a loooong time ago. ;)
However, if you have a steady hand and a good eye a dremel works very nicely.
