Anyone doing the XC race in Fontana this Saturday? I would prefer to not drive solo. Anyone want to sit co-pilot? I live in Costa mesa.

I'll be out there, I live in Pasadena. Are there alot of people doing this race? I haven't decided whether I'm racing beginner or sport. How hard is this race?

There will probably be a good amount of people racing out there, its a real popular series.

If it does rain on friday then the course would probably be great. Not too sandy and not too muddy. Oh and bring some cold gear because I hear its going to be cold out in IE area. Plus there might be some snow too.

I think it's a good challenging course. If you were just riding it, most people would think it's easy, but when you race it, it's plenty challenging.

My buddy lives near Fontana, he said that the mountains are snowed over. Does anyone know if the race is going to be cancelled? Or postboned?

The race course hill is barely above sea level, maybe the surrounding mountains got dusted but I can't see the race area being affected.

Naw, you're good to go. It didn't last but a few hours and the ground is near perfect right now. I wish I had the cajones to ride in the cold, because it looks about perfect out there right now.

Another Fontana XC RR

I think I've figued out the main difference between XC races and endurance races. Newcastle can be imbibed immediately after an endurance race but at least a wait of 15 minutes is required before downing one after an XC race or it'll all come back up.

Anyway, here's the race report

Next up: The 12 hours of Temecula #1

Fontucky XC - Sport For The First Time

Well, we hit Fontucky on Saturday for Lacey's first race of the season. She decided to step it up a notch, and race the Sport catagory this year.
And since she decided to step up, who am I to stay behind, and race beginer?#-o

We had a good showing for The Path, with Andy taking second out of seven riders in the Single-Speed Men 35+, and Lacey getting second in the Sport Women 34 & Under. Mark Wronski, and loyal Path supporter also earned a second place out of ten riders in the Sport Men 45-54 class.

Anyone that was out there Saturday morning knows how cold and windy it was. The cold didn't worrie me to much, because I know she warm's up real quick once she starts pedaling.
[IMG][/IMG]

The wind on the other hand, had me a little concerned! There were sections of the course that felt like it must have been blowing 50 mph! Climbing up the paved road was brutal, and at times I was actualy leaning into the wind to stay up!
The course was fun though, and at just around 7.5 miles, I knew she wouldn't give up.
Lacey finished in second place, in the Sport Womens 34 - Under catagory. The girl that beat her was 25 year old Jennifer Strothers. She and Lacey talked some while they were staged, and she mentioned to Lace that she raced MTN & road in college. She finished 14 minutes ahead of her, which in my book isn't to bad for an 11 year difference.
I ended up finishing 12th out of 15 riders in the Men's 35 - 44 Sport class. I GOT SPANKED!!8-[ But I didn't finish LAST! Not bad for working all night, and no sleep before racing.\\:D/
As for our little cheese cake bet?
My time 02:03:18.00
Lacey's time 02:07:13.00
Pretty doggone close........ I'll share it with her;)

Nice write up Maxwell. It's just awesome the way you and Lacey are there for each other. You inspire more people than you think. Thanks for the hot coffee after the race! Mmmm Mmmmm Good! Maybe I should have left my beenie on for the photos.

I'm guessing he was planning on doing the 4-cross which was immediately following the cross country award ceremonies. Otherwise, maybe it was helping keep the bone chilling winds off his shins!
