Good luck with the healing process... my wife had a complete tear of her rotator cuff after an OTB incident on Mathis April of last year and she's still going to PT after surgery...

Heal up soon man. Let us know when you can ride and we'll Luge it again and have beer and tacos at Cook's to celebrate your return. Keep us posted on how your recovery progresses.

Get better big guy! Those mile stone climbs keep you in the game. My buddy was just talking about you this morning. Saw that you crashed. He was on a white stumpjumper with one other person.

I stayed at the top of The Luge and let Paul pick his own pace down with no one chasing him. He did great on all of the upper stuff. Watched him go out of sight then chased him down. Took a long time for me to catch him. He did all of the little ledges and off cambers very well - smooth, no problems. After catching him, I stopped again and let him go ahead more, then I came upon "the scene" - a crumpled up big guy holding his arm in an odd way, in a lot of pain. The tracks told me he got a little loose over one small ledge, got high on the left wall a little, skidded then endoed to his impact with Mr. Rock. Paul, I blame your POS 3" travel Sun Tour fork for stacking up. Doesn't match well with that sweet Reign frame. Heal fast my friend. Thanks for the props, but I still feel a little responsible for the body damage.

You are officially my new favorite poster.

First off, heal up man. That sucks about the elbow. I swear I recently saw a thread asking if elbow pads were even necessary, which you just proved. Congrats on at least trying the Luge.

Your threads read like a comedy script for the adventures of a new mtn biker in So Cal. You sign up for the Path ride and get in over your head. Then you almost get taken out by a rattlesnake in Peter's Canyon. Now you conquered the Luge climbs, but were unlucky on the descent.

I'm bummed we have to wait a couple weeks for the next chapter. I don't know what to expect next?
    -Old Camp Overnight
    -JoplIN, Flown out
    -Motorway the wrong way
-Disarming the Art of going to Beek's.
    -Chutes, I did it again.
-I rode the 3B's and my wife encouraged me.

    The possibilities are endless!!!!

    Awww...son Of A B$#@%$!!!!!!

Ok gang, here’s the damn scoop (figured Winger could use another good post)

Oh wait a sec...before I begin...special thanks to Herz for calling out my POS Sun Tour fork. LOL...as if I haven’t already had my balls busted about that enough.

So saw the specialist this morning who, aside from giving me more vicodin, started the conversation by saying “you are really messed up” I was hoping he was being complimentary, as in “dude, you are really messed up with those bad ass bike handling skills!”

Turns out however, he was not discussing my mad moves, but rather the quarter inch piece of elbow “head” bone that will need to be surgically “pinned” back to the other piece, which has wedged itself in the cartilage area and has completely rearranged the landscape of my elbow. He then went on to tell me that while he is fully assured that “big Al” the x-ray tech at the walk in clinic surely has his moments, that they pretty much read the x-rays wrong. It’s not a torn rotator cuff, but a fractured clavicle.

That’s what I get for putting myself at the hands of “Big Al”....which ironically is what his name tag says too.

Anyway....surgery needed on the elbow, surgery possibly needed on the shoulder....and a rig that has no damage despite my POS Sun Tour special.

So it looks like I may just be a beer boy for you guys while you’re out riding....and hoping that Brian and Tani will be ok with me just hanging out in the store to get my fix. Looks like I will need those DVDs to keep me jazzed. Cuz apparently I am not going to be “luging” any time soon.

    DAMN IT!!!

Well let me know when you guys ride again, I make killer fish tacos, BBQ and can load the back of the truck up with beer and post-ride stuff. It will keep me in the loop and outta my f’ing Luge depression!

And enough about the damn fork. :)

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Good to know there are some of you out there who I don't even know...who apparently saw The Luge hand me my ass. lol

    PS

Not good. Sorry to hear about the injuries being worse than before.

Did they give you a healing timeframe?

I'm looking forward to more stories when you're back ON the bike.

#-oOh man, I just read your update. Geez bro, that sux. Really very sorry to hear the bad news. In the spirit of healing, Herz has both of those DVDs I mentioned and I am sure he would be willing to "donate" them to you. 8-[
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Paul - yes, I can loan you all the Mountain Biking porn you can stomach, including The Collective, Roam, Seasons, Pinned, Best of Earthed, F1rst...You can see other people with mad skills getting mangled up. I hope we didn't exacerbate the damage by walking out with your arm hanging rather than in a sling. I think the damage was done. What a mess! I'll get the vids to you - check your e-mail.

no worries Herz,,,,,,i think we both knew the damage was done, just by the way the arm was hanging. On the way home i was remembering quite a bit and remembered a snap.

Like I said man, the only thing i'm really bummed about was that I couldn't ride out! :)

I'm just bummed that the first injury is one thats gonna knock me out for so long. Thats got me a little steamed at myself.

    But whatever. I'll deal somehow.
