Well....i'm doing this with one hand so bear with me.......first off special thanks to Chris Herzfeld for showing me my first climb to the Luge and for a killer time. Secondly, thanks to all the riders who checked on me to make sure i was ok.

Diagnosis was a broken elbow and a torn rotator cuff. But what is really the point here is that i made my first climb....i didn't quit and from what Chris is telling me, I actually had conquered most of the challenging parts of the Luge rather well until i bit it with a stellar OTB right into a rock.

It hurts like a bitch, but i am more pissed that I didn't make it to the finish. At least I can say I had a hell of a time and can't wait to get back on the rig.

Really big thanks again to Chris for tending to the injured newbie and haling ass to get the car. I owe you some serious red stripe my friend.

One more thing about the crash....

One other thing i wanted to mention too.....after breaking my arm and having chris shoot ahead to get his car....as i walked down to Cooks Corner i was pretty damn amazed with the comradery today by the other bikers.

Everyone who passed asked if i needed anything they had, or if they could do anything for me. Even a guy in a white pick up reversed on the road to ask if i needed a ride. That was pretty damn cool to be coming from mtbers, roadbikers...and passing people alike. We have some pretty strong ties binding all of us enthusiasts together. I saw it first hand today and its pretty damn cool.

    Thanks again.

There are still good people in the world. I lost my wallet a few days ago. As i was going to look for it, a nice couple pulled up to my house with my wallet and everything was still in it. Including the money I needed to pay my kids dentist bill.

Really sorry. Don't give up on it yet. We all crashed some in the beginning, in fact some of still do on a ongoing basis but you do get better and the crashing is a lot less harmful.

Hey gang...thanks for all the regards. I'll live. Just wish I could figure out a way to ride with a cast!

(lol....my wife just gave me the evil eye)

sincerely though, thanks again. First bone broken in my entire 36 years and damn happy to have it happen on my bike.

Night all. time for more painkillers.

    PS

LOL...and by the way...just so no one gives chris any crap, it wasn't my first climb or downhill. It was my first climb of that elevation and my first time on the Luge. Lol....don't want anyone thinking i went there without knowing anything.

Hey Paul-- I'm a friend of Herz and one of his regular riding partners. He's good people and you couldn't have asked for a better wingman out there. Sorry about your crash-- broken elbow #-o-- yikes. Healing vibes your way. While you are laid up, I recommend (if you haven't seen them already) getting a hold of The Collectives' 2 DVD films-- "Roam" and "Seasons". It'll keep your spirits up. Gnarly, gnarly, gnarly...
