It's a pet peeve of mine when people talk about how 32 or 36 spoke wheels give you this magic carpet ride, but I can definitely relate. With my weight (I'm only a buck forty), I can get away with wheels that have a low spoke count, but I do the majority of my riding on 32 spoke wheels just because it's that much more comfortable for me.

ok.... thought you were mentioning running a certain profile wheel makes the ride stiffer or more flex....

Rim design (including profile), material, and construction also play into how a wheel rides.

I was using a lower spoke count neuvation and had a spoke break. The wheel was unrideable - I couldn't limp home. Thankfully, it blew up a mile from coates, who loaned me a wheel to get home.

My new wheels are 32 spoke. And so smooth.

Oh, and I got a hell of a deal on the OC craigslist for my current roadie.

I don't recall if you discussed sizing, but there's things to be found on our own forums.....

look at bikesdirect.com for a good deal for components you want mst of the rides are carbon fork and an aluminum frame. its worth it for a first bike.

Ok, so I'm jumping on this thread. Looking at one of these bikes for my g/f...anyone have any opinions or info on Fuji quality?

Here's the link with specs & etc...

    http://www.fujibikes.com/Road/Performance/RoubaixRC.aspx

The components are full Ultegra, except the cranks....and I can grab it for $1100?

    Cheers-
