You guys can climb this!!!! Stop with the maybes already and just do it! I'm sure you'll all be smiling at the top anyway (or grimacing, but I've never really been good at reading facial expressions).

**Unfortunately, parking is not included in the event--does anyone want to meet at Ridge Park and ride in?

Afterwards, I plan on riding a bit, possibly down BVD (that trail needs some love), up Old Emerald, yadda yadda ya--anyone is welcome to join.

This looks pretty cool. Does this climb compare to anything at Aliso?

Maybe the begining of Mathis, but 4 times as long.
Or Medows without the switchbacks, flat section in the middle, and way shorter.

It's gonna be fun, and it's gonna hurt!#-o

I'll be forcing myself to get up early to get in a ride before I stop to watch the cardio carnage, if anyone is interested in a crack 'o dawn loop.

I ran El Moro last night after work and went up Poles to remind myself why I stay away from it. My gps registered 30% at the steepest towards the top but the trail's in better condition than I remember it ever being.

it's not the law of averages thats smokes you on Pole, it's the pitch near the crest and the anerobic condition it creates that causes "Fail" mode, along with a lack of traction.

Beginning of mathis, that sucks. I can do meadows but straight up it? This sounds a bit too painful to pay for, still want to try it though...

Agreed; I couldn't have said it better myself. Meadows, but straight up? Co'mon.

Methinks I'll have a better time playing around in Aliso for a few hours.

Not meadows straight up. That would be nuts.
It is as steep as the meadows TRAIL but in a straight line instead of switchbacks. If you can climb across the meadows, you can climb a pole.

DO IT!! You'll have a great time!

You'd be surprised at how much fun these events are. Cheering on you fellow knucklehaeds, the laughing, and surprise when someone actually makes it.
Come out and play around on The Poles!\\:D/

Final Bump! We meeting wicked early (0730) at Ridge Park and riding in from there. (You don't have to meet us at Poles until 0830, if you're riding it)

You guys would be surprised, this ride is a blast* to do and watch. And, I know you can all do it!

Don't forget, you CAN stop, you just can't move forward in any fashion without having both feet on the pedals.

*what you blast depends on your metabolism, breakfast, and ability to hold it down.
