even though i hated it...the STT climb to the flag is cool...its just gradual and goes and goes...but it's nice because the views are awesome as well.

    I hate all climbs...

...because I am a lazy, ego trippin', new world disorderly, downhill shuttle slob that guzzles beer, sleeps in, and ruins the trail for all indigenous life, passers-by, fellow bike riders, and anything else that manages to get in the way.

Nah, I like any climb that gets me to the top, especially if I get to smoke anyone along the way on my dh bike. I'll blow my wad and barf if I have to just to get the satisfaction of passing on a climb.

Almost forgot...Silverado Canyon. Not real hard but the descent is great. Especially during the week when there isn't any traffic.

Next week would be better for me, next weekend to be exact, I am working this weekend, and there is not enough daylight during the week.

I don't know if its my favorite climb but it's probably the only real climb I've done and that's up Rancho California Rd into DeLuz. I have no idea how long it is or what the incline is but it was fun. There is another climb on that ride (off of Carancho Rd I believe) just before the Santa Rosa Plateu that is like a 27% grade....yep I walked it! The gearing on my Allez is just not set up for that...not even close!

Still a fun ride though but next time I think I'm going to do it backwards so I can go down that 27% grade. Might be a bit more fun than walking up it.

    Hey Matt,

Depending on when you do it and if I got time, I'd love to give ythis a shot. Earlier this year we did Breathless Agony and Ride around the Bear, both were over 12,000' of climbing.

I defintely want to plan the 7 sisters ride and do some road riding with you guys.

Lets come up with a day to do this ride. I'm thinking we could meet at my house in San Juan Capistrano or at Aliso Woods.

So who is down for this ride and what day is good???

Well I was planning on doing the Holy Jim mtn bike ride. If it turns out to be too wet I will defintely be on the road bike, and we can do this ride.

This will probably be an even better training ride.

I'm going to plan on riding Holy Jim and see how much rain we get. You mtn bike Bergsteiger??

As of right now, I'm out. I was hit with strep throat last week and it thoroughly knocked me down a few pegs. Have fun on the ride guys.

Have you gone up Newport Coast and turned on Vista Ridge? or gone over the back and climbed Ridge Route? Do a couple of those and you'll be happy. I like to hit NPC go up Vista down Ridge turn right at NPC go down towards Bonita Cyn (I think that is what the street is called.) Turn around climb NPC to Ridge Route climb then go back down Vista. I tried Thalia in LB up to Temple and then to the top. That last section was nasty...can't imagine having that climb as one of seven...but it would be fun to pop trying to do it.

I would be interested in Holy Jim as well. I have never done it. The problem is, I have been feeling like the flu or somthing might be stalking me, for the past few hours. So I am drinking tea, and Airborne right now.
Give me til tomorrow night, hopefully we can either do 7 sisters or Holy.

Drink your Airborne grasshopper. I hope you guys were able to get out there today. I have my acupuncture appointment today. I hope they can help get me back out there. These past two weeks have been killing me. Great weather, new 29er, and my need to keep riding for me first double in February is killing me. Arggg.

My favorite climb is not a road climb, but a mountain climb, Rockit for it's technical fun and Mathis for it's long grind, both at Aliso. These will test your fitness level and technical skills. Don't waste your knobbies on the street... it's boring.

I haven't done much road riding but you might want to try park place from Laguna beach to top of the world. It seems like it would be a good work out for a road bike.
