Thanks! I'll try that one out. I was going to ride the "Sycamore Run" in Aliso because I'd heard that would be a good start from my bro in law. Agree?

Welcome to the group! This is a great place to meet fellow riders and also new friends. When I started here and getting back into biking I was 265 and didn't know many that ride. Now, I am 185 and have more riding friends than I can possibly ride with. I, like many of us here, are very fortunate for that. Keep your eyes open and join in on some newbie rides. Nobody will shun you for being slow or needing a rest. I can remember my first ride around the Fullerton Loop with Jose when I nearly puked, twice. No matter what your goal is on the bike remember to have a good time doing it!

As someone that's a little less round than I used to be (about 80 pounds worth) thanks to mountain biking, welcome! That's the great thing about mountain biking, is it doesn't feel like exercise, but you're still burning a bunch of calories. It's hard at first, especially the hills, but then one day, when you're not even thinkng about it, you realize you just rode up that hill without stopping, for the first time, and there's no better feeling in the world.

    Have fun!

    Welcome,

From a fat guy that has benefited from my mtb, here are a couple of things that keeps me going:

    - Set small goals for yourself and ride as much as possible
    - What you eat & drink will have an effect on your riding
    - Start with easy stuff and build your skills and confidence

The people on STR are a great resource, don't be afraid to join in. Hope to ride with you soon.
