Anyone still plan on riding this?

my back went out three weeks ago so haven't been on the bike till this last weekend. However, was able to get almost 80 miles of amazing XC dirt riding in at Mammoth Sat and Sunday.

I still plan on attempting the first day of EC and think I can pull it off. Not sure about day 2 though so will bring the fishing pole as my backup plan8-[

Anyone looking for a carpool or room share?

What, you didn't do the Fall Century while you were in Mammoth? I hit the XC trails, hiked a bit and rode the century (all 95 miles of it!). I love Mammoth. Not thinking about the Everst Challenge, though. Have fun!

How was the Fall Century? Sounds like you had a great time. The weather was perfect for a long road ride but even better for the mtb and virtually nobody at the lifts.

I wasn't sure I could ride with my back acting up but a visit to chiro and a massage Friday made a huge difference. I rode the double earlier in the year and the thought of being in mammoth and not riding the trails again was intolerable! Don't really want to do EC any more but too late to get my money back and too stubborn to opt out.

    Looks like not many people!

I am going to make my decision after this Saturday's ride. Have a room at Motel 6, have asked for Friday off, and an 11-32 cassette will be here tomorrow. So I'm semi-prepared.

What category are you riding in?

No EC for me. Kinda bummed, kinda relieved. I think I could probably pull it off if I rode smart, but the travel/ride budget has been used up between Leadville, Son of Death Ride, and the 50-mile Racers/Chasers marathon. Would like to do it someday... just not in the cards this year.

I'm riding in the old and/or slow non-racing category - think it's called touring or something. I didn't reserve a room yet but will do so tonight.

I'll be pushing a compact 50-34 w/ 11-28 cassette - based on everyone's comments and my training rides, I should have got the 11-32.

One of my teammates signed up for this after Mt Charleston fell through. Alas, she's the climber and I'm merely a shell of a sprinter, so I declined ;)

    Good luck & have FUN!!!

Might see you up there, will try to make a decision after my ride tomorrow. Not sure I will be able to get the 11-32 setup by then, in which case I will also be running the same gears as you.

I too will be in the Public Category.

As much as I hate to admit defeat, I'm out. I've been trying to get as much climbing as possible but the back is still giving me problems and 3 weeks off the bike took the edge off what fitness I had. For those of you who do ride EC; good luck and have a strong ride!

Same here. Pain in both knees on Saturday's ride, so that made the decision kind of a no brainer.

Broke my leg on a MTB mishap around Lone Pine two weeks ago.

Will give it a go next year...

    Thanks. That would be cool.

I'll be checking in with you guys through the year. I want to put together a ride to White Mountain summit on the MTB's. I was going to do that the day after Lone Pine. I've made one attempt to summit from the valley floor in Big Pine and ran out of time about 8 miles up the dirt road. Brought food, lights, bivy and stuff for the next attempt on 9/5 but the Lone Pine accident put an end to all that.

Thanks FFW, In light of Obie's injuries, I really can't complain. Getting some people to do it next year would be awesome. Obie and I had an amazing couple days up there on our recon.
