The Goats will be out as trail ambassadors for the event, ..answering questions, assisting w/ mechanicals and helping in any other way that's requested. Im looking forward to meeting a bunch of new folks, and am very excited about being involved.

Well there wasn't much water when I went through Caspers a couple of weeks ago, but we did have rain since. So, maybe it has changed. Either way it will be fun. I wish I had the legs to do the full 50.

There are two water crossings in Caspers, one on Oso Trail just before you hit Bell Canyon and the other on Bell Canyon before you make the right to go back up the hill. Both can be avoided by riding some loose rocks to the side or you can just roll through. The sandy sections in Caspers are all packed down really nice right now.

There are four crossings and one stagnant puddle in Arroyo Trabuco. All can be ridden (hit them fast and pedal hard out the other side). The hikers have built rock bridges for those of you that would rather walk them.

I'll be doing some rubble cleaning Friday afternoon on the Tijeras/Arroyo Trabuco section to get rid of some of the loose stuff the horses have caused over the last few weeks.

Bah!!! I HATE having wet feet on the bike!!! When you see the crazy lady going through at snails pace with her legs pulled up like a frog you'll know it's me ;p

I really hope BTP is right and it's dry.....

Maybe I should clarify, it was not Death Valley dry, but it wasn't like I was fording a river. But I might have to hitch ride to the water crossing with a camera and get video of this.

Want to talk about a water crossing? I remember about year ago on a ride through Aliso and Thomaswildchild went waist deep through the crossing. The rest of us took the bridge to the right. :)

Yes and it's $60. Not sure if it's cash only, but you can email them here: For general ride questions and information: [email protected]

Any chance of this ride getting postponed due to the rain yesterday and today?

I dont think so. It didnt rain much in my neck of the woods (Aliso). I bet the little bit of water was just enough to make the trails nice!

I just read an hour or two ago that the interior of O'Neil is closed today, but that the Arroyo/Trabuco loop is open. Should be pretty good for Saturday!

Good luck to everybody riding this weekend. I'm doing support for the Stagecoach race or I'd be there.

A plug: I don't think you could find a more worthy bike-related charity than this. You can also support them by going to their website and donating or purchasing items from their "gift shop"--their jersey is the coolest one in my closet. http://projectrwanda.org/

I'll be there for the 6th time. This will only be my 2nd time for the full 50. I currently do not have plans to go with anyone, so hoping to find someone my speed to ride with. Haven't really trained much, so will probably be among the slower riders.

Perfect pace for Brownie. If it it isn't raining that is. He is afraid of water.

Seriously though, lots of riders. I even found a group at my slow pace last year, though that group isn't riding this year. Like you, I'll have to find a new slower group for the 25. There will be somebody out there. I am not the slowest . . . anymore.

I'll be doing the 50 miler this year and it's going to be my first ever long ride. Longest ride I had ever done as far as distance was 30 mile. I am very excited about the event this year and hope I can complete the ride without any incident or trouble.

See you guys out there this Saturday!

    Cheers,

After an unfortunate series of events (depending on how you look at it) My bike I was planning on using will be out of commisison this weekend. However, this means I will be using my new SS. I'm actually looking forward to it even if my longest ride on my SS was 15 miles. Should be a fun time!

Vincent and I will be riding the 50. It will be his first. I know he can go the distance but not sure he (we) will make the cut off times. Will be fun either way.
