Yesterday, I had the afternoon free so I headed up to the El Prieto trail to do a bit of trail maintenance. After the '04-'05 and '05-'06 rains (JPL had 60" in '06!!) there has been a huge amount of growth all over the Angeles Forrest, and the El Prieto trail has had some areas encroach on proper trail clearance.

I didn't have a lot of time so doing what I could in the great rainy weather I cleared the exiting protion of this single track, now there is a great amount of view ahead and shrubs removed to keep trail erosion down for a couple years! :bang:

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know if Brown Mtn/fireroad climb to El Prieto is open yet?

I'm almost certain the Angeles NF remains closed. If so, then Brown/El Prieto would be closed too.

I rode the Verdugos today and conditions were excellent. Not bad as a backup to El Prieto.

tho i spoke w/ one poacher today. he chose quite an obscure venue. i pondered doing a trail run up the same tucked-out-of-the way canyon, but sloth is winning. no topography today
