Yeah, I've gone OTB in my driveway.
Turned out the fork was softer, the brakes were stronger, and the ground was closer than I thought!

At least my buddy enjoyed the show, and the hot girl next door didn't see it.

It's not a real crash if you don't rip your shorts off :) Style points when you come limping back with your clothes hanging off your body in bloody tatters. Show me a "safe" trail and I can crash on it... somewhere. Last time I came down Holy Jim from Santiago my buddy OTBed on lower HJ and his bike ended up in a tree completely off the ground :) He snagged a handlebar at speed and the momentum flipped it up into the air while his body went in the other direction :)

I'm curious to know what happened next...What do you think they did? After the guy is writhing in pain from a broken humerus, did the buddy strap the arm up with an inner tube, and walk both bikes down? Did he call in for air support? Did Shawn get up and say F-It, then charge down?!

After watching his whole video........................He is riding too fast for his abilities, cannot seem to stay on the trail, lol, and falls a lot. Riding behind him would be entertaining at first, but he might want to re think mountain biking as an activity.

LMAO. I didn't realize this video would get so much attention. I pretty much put that up for our personal enjoyment. Shawn is a tough dude. We were able to get him on his feet and I walked both bikes out. We popped his shoulder back in about half way back down Chutes. He was in a ton of pain because he has already had surgery on that shoulder from a previous injury. Shawn was out for a couple weeks, but he's back to work and slowly getting better. He told me today that he's ready to go back out there! Shawn is my best friend, and we are both new to the sport. I miss him out there because we definitely push each other with similar skill levels. We both want to be the best. Some days it's him, and some days it's me. I think he's going to go for it next week.

Thanks for those of you that cared! I'll let Shawn know about this thread. Haha

I almost ate it there the first time. Bike was a Pivot demo and the suspension wasn't dialed in. 8 inches of rear suspension compression with weak rebound sent me nose-diving. Somehow managed to save it! Anyway, hope your buddy makes a full recovery.

On that video with the ibis, I'm guessing he just accidentally grabbed too much front brake. I've done that before, going maybe 18 mph on a flat fire road with no rocks or ruts. I launched OTB instantly.

It is super fun! Not bad to climb either, just flowy mountain goodness.

There's lots of good riding up that way. Awesome area.
