Sorta.... What is Geocaching? Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache. From www.geocaching.com Go create a free account and then scan this image with the barcode reader in your Droid. put in your login credentials for geocaching.com... Ta-Da!!! You should be finding some cache within minutes. let me know if you want to go hunting some time. I wont spoil it, but Many of us have ridden by dozens of hidden "treasures" a hundred times and never known they were there....
Would My Tracks still work if the phone is in my Camelback? Its GPS so doesn't it need to see the sky?
still works. i ride with my droid and garmin in a camelback or rear jersey pocket... never a problem.
I have the G1 and my tracks still works for me as long as its not buried in my pack. ive kept it in my pocket while running or in the little glasses pocket at the top of my pack.
anyone have a case reccomendation for the droid? I droppe dmine for the 85th time and finally broke the screen. 90 dolla deductible later, im in posession of another brick. I dont want to break this one again. ALSO, i use the car mount for GPS/streaming radio, which snaps to the phone.... meaning this case needs to be quick on/off for cradle use
Hey for all us Droid owners I just wanted to say "zomodrive" is a newer app. Came out yesterday and the free version allows you to have 2gb of memory stored online. You can sync it from your computer too I haven't used it much yet but just throwing it out there.
HAd an Iphone (2), 3 storms, HTC touch pro and now the droid! Motorola droid is by far the best Ive used yet, I really like it. The email thing gets a bit quirky considering its what I mainly use but overall Im really impressed and its been along time since a decent phone came out... Im looking forward to the 2.1
yeh, thats what i hear....but ive been running a 2.1 rom for several weeks now. there is a new release all the developers have been working on and now its running flawlessly! i have full multitouch, 2.1 gallery, 2.1 launcher, live wallpapers and im overclocked running 1000mhz. it runs FLAWLESSLY and SMOOTH. im not going to upgrade to 2.1 when it comes out, there is no point. i have a fully customized rom that rocks! check it out here: http://alldroid.org/threads/16302-ROM.tgz-Smoked-Glass-v6.0.1-*03-15*-(Android-2.1-ESE53) its easy to do. let me know if anyone needs help
I think a few folks got it yesterday or will today, and then bigger roll-out. I'm scared to check Droid Forum's (will be way too many posts).
Apparently it starts rolling out at 12pm EST today. They said its coming in stages...whatever that means.
Power users get it first (IMO - and speculated by the Droid Forum guys previously) because they use their phones more and will likely spot any bugs first. Then it slowly gets rolled out to everyone else over a few day period. Thomaswildchild - http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/03/16/verizon-posts-motorola-droid-2-1-update-details/
The last OTA was earlier than expected. This one may take a day or two. I've resisted rooting and modding mainly because it works so well stock, why bother. 2.1 will fix a few known issues and there may be some surprises (according to the forums).
This update is about a month or so later than expected, but I also haven't rooted. Stuff scares me too much Would be cool if we were going to get more than 3 screens stock, but I guess they figure everyone is using alternate home app's anyway.
Well, the stock Droid has 3 screens. Some home replacement app's have up to 7. I'm currently running 5 with GDE and the Obsidian theme. I have the flip clock and weather widget too. It's nice Also, just read on Droidforums.net that the OTA update for 2.1 is being delayed again, possibly due to the company that releases the OTA updates not being able to handle capacity. Could be hours; could be more.
