I recently replaced my chain and it wasn't meshing with the cogset so I put a new cogset on as I could see the teeth were wearing. That solved my chain meshing/ mis-shifting concern but in the higher gears I still have a sound like it's chain sucking or kinda grinding. The gears are all shifting fine and the noise is happening under load going up hill. Any suggestions on how to get it to go away? I gotta get this back on the trail before I go nuts on the road bike!!!! [-o-]

Check this link for fine-tuning your settings: Park Tool Website

It sounds like your either your B tension setting may be off or the cable tension could be fine tuned - the chain may be rubbing on the next higher or lower gear. A new, lubed chain and new cassette should be problem free. You did replace your cables at the same time didn't you?

I had this issue on my bike..... turns out it was a weak main pivot spring in an almost brand new derailer....

I had that on my bike once. But I then noticed the hanger was bent just a smidge. After bending it back, I had to keep tuning the derailleur until no more sound was occuring in all the gears.
