I'd suggest taking off everything you don't need....

    like brakes

you want to drag as little weight as is possible up the hill.

Hoping to ride tomorrow since I can't make it Sunday. Haven't ridden Whiting yet, maybe I'll swing by and check out the contest--as a spectator only!

Been sportin' the new decal for a few days now...on my bike, of course. Looks good!

I will ride in the 200 lb and up. Maxwell and I are easy to spot, we have the 35lb coilers and the green Giro Xen helmets.

Just like to see the weight weenies looking at us like we're some king of monsters...

One day, climing up Modjeska grade road, one of them told me: "F$@% that's a bike tire" I replied: " My wife calls it love handles"

The guy almost fell off his bike laughing :D

I had a great time again.

Didn’t stick around for my place or time so I'll have to wait for the results to be posted.

Rode the SS again and felt a little better than last year, but this hill is still my nemesis on a SS. Have cleaned it many times with gears, but have yet to clean it on my SS (although I only actually tried twice).

Cleaned the first hill with ease, and made it 3/4 the way up the second hill before stopping for a 30 second rest to get the hr back down. Started again and had a pretty easy spin until the third climb after the sharp left turn.

Blew up after about 10 yards; and after 5 or 6 unsuccessful re-start attempt I relegated to walk the 50 yard hill (which officially disqualified me); although I didn't really mind.

Took another 1 minute rest at the top of the hill, and then re-mounted the bike for a comfortable finish.

It was a great event again, and I am looking forward to next year.

It wasn't a long ride but this afternoon, I was more tired than if I did a 20 miles epic ride. Feels good to get a challenge like that, to get out of your comfort zone.

sounds like the climb was intense.. good job to all ya who competed.

I couldnt make it because I had a swim meet.

But im wondering which hill at Whiting Ranch is the "Dreaded Hill"

Is it the hill if start from 4 Corners and go down past the Cactus cut off or do climb up from 4 Corners and then that hill that descends down.

If anyone wants to race me climbing the hill I'm totally down for that. I rode Mathis at Aliso Wildnerness the other day in middle ring!!
