So I went to the chiropractor today, been having back spasms really bad. Riding the loop made it worse. Well, no riding for 1 month doc says.I have to go back everyday this week to treat the spasms before any adjustments can be made. This really sucks, I guess I will lurk when I can. No sitting allowed for more than 15 min either.

Wish I could but it hurts really really bad, spasms are not fun.
I have to stay in bed when not sitting.I was on my way to the bike clinic at switchback and had to stop at my sons house to lay down so I could drive home.I almost crashed when I pushed in the clutch pedal and my back cramped so bad I had to do all I could to not crash.

Yea Vickie, the problem started the day I was gonna do the Blackstar ride with the trail angles. It just got really, really bad.On a side note I am so proud of my 8 year old, he got me medicine, brought me drinks, helped me walk from the car and even gave my 4yr. old a bath. Im a proud dad, hes such a good kid. He just called me to see if I was ok. I don't think hes ever seen me show pain so he is very concerned.

For those who have never experienced back spasms, It is by far one of the most painful things I have ever felt.

accupuncture. it's worked wonders for me. I sprained my ankle wakeboarding and my accupuncturist had me back on the bike in a couple of days. i broke my collarbone riding and my accupuncturist, while he didn't "heal" it per se, took the pain away.

    there's also a therapy called ceragem. http://www.ceragem.com/main.asp
there's a distributor in santa monica that friends of mine have been to, and they rave about it. while i have never tried it myself, my friend stepped off a 12 hour flight with excruciating back pain, went straight to ceragem in SaMo, and walked out pain free. maybe worth a shot. back pain is no fun. get well soon!

That sounds horrible Danny... I hope you get well soon so you can ride!

Ricky - try the chiropractor. It's not like going to the doctor -- you actually feel better when you leave! I went today and he totally fixed the neck issue I've been having for 4-5 months. It made my day.

I can simpathize for you man, the back spasms are by far some of the most painful episodes you can go through!! I have had them several times in my life, usually only takes bending and twisting just at the wrong time, and those back muscles go into spasms and the intense pain begins. Hard to breathe ain't it, just rolling over in bed kills.. I don't miss that one bit.. My chiro did some adjustments and also told me to alternate ice and heat, or was it heat and ice, or maybe just ice.. Well hope your back gets better quickly!! Maybe some of this will help... Erik

Yea alternate heat and ice. When I cough I get spasms. And yes very hard to breath. I don't recall how it got so bad, I don't wish this on my worst enemy! Well I don't really have any I think. My chiro cant do any adjustments until the spasm go away. Today was these little electrode type things on the back that vibrate the muscles and ultra sound.
