I have a more XC style bike with full suspension though, I love downhill and freeriding is awesome. I do the best I can on my bike, and I love to ride down not up so I think of myself as a main downhill rider. Love shuttling too, I was going to head out to noble with a buddy to shuttle this morning but I am battling a cold and had to hold myself back this time. I am thinking if I am feeling better we might go tomorrow morning for a Noble Labor day celebration lol

My full blown DH addiction began in 2002. I do embrace other disciplines but DH is my true love (besides Roger).

so im a downhiller, and i dont plan on riding up hill any time soon.

ill hike-a-bike my heavy ass downhill bike up a trail 4 miles so i can bomb down it any day. i love getting passed on the way up by the little nortstum boys in there spandex and crazy light little bikes and waching them laugh at me push my bike up, and then blow by em on the way down the trail that they are walking down because they cant handle the rock sections.

its only happened to me once, but i got a kick out of it. haha

    Dh!

I definitely get a buzz out of going fast and really flowing effortlessly and stylishly down a trail (presuming that I do either of those, of course). That is just my absolute favorite so DH makes a lot of sense. I also dig the feeling of really smashing through the pedals and putting power into the wheels.

I will make no mistake, though, in that it takes a great deal of fitness to really excel in the discipline. So, I also really like to grind up the hills as much as makes sense or, if pushing the bike, do it very quickly. I really don't like being lazy on a ride even when going downhill.

As for battling with XC dudes or whatever, I think that is silly. I think it's lame to ruin another person's ride because you want to bomb a hill or climb a hill. My concept of right-of-way is biased toward the DH simply because of physics. If I am climbing, I would rather stop and let a person pass going downhill because that is just the cool thing to do. On trails that are known to be more uphill, I take much greater care in descending otherwise I just avoid them altogether.

I have to say that the XC gear is pretty whack looking though--it definitely doesn't inspire people to get excited for the sport and it certainly isn't good for trolling tail.

I won't comment on 29", singlespeed, or any combination thereof--I would switch to stamp collecting before I take any of those up.

I think you misunderstood my original post, I was being completely sarcastic, in fact, I think all mountain biking is great, way better than sitting at home watching tv, but I figured I would make a fun little tongue-in-cheek post to get the "adrenaline factory" up and and running. :)
