    hey guys.
i currently have a no name 20mm thru up front laced to an old mavic, grey in color with cracks forming around the holes in the rim. rear is a hadley laced to the same rim with same cracks. both hubs are in good condition. im having a hard time finding wheelsets that are 20mm thru front, 135mm/12mm thru in rear. my budget is like 350.00. i was thinking about the azonic outlaws, or just buying hoops and lacing them up, what do you think? what DH wheels do you prefer? thanks guys!:bang:

outlaws are great wheels! what are you looking for in a wheel? light? strong? how smooth are you? do you like to land dirty (a bit sideways)

get some new hoops/spokes/nipples. hadley is a good hub, no point in getting outlaws if you've already got it.

if you've got the spare coin after you get the rest of the stuff, try and find the hadley front hub to match. I've seen them go for pretty good prices over on ridemonkey if you're okay with used.

btw, I vote for 823, brass nipples, and DT double butted spokes :bang:
(hadley + 823 + DT DB is the wheelset I'd have on my DH bike if I had the funds)

whatever you end up doing, definitely keep the Hadley
maybe send it in for a quick overhaul, or rebuild it yoursef - they're quite simple

people keep Hadleys for years, as they generally outlast the rims and frames they're on

i have a 135x12 spacing on my DH bike as well, and I run Hopes on 729s, also a bombproof combo.
if i had the cash though, i'd go Hadley over Hope.

+2! except for the DB spokes... straight gauge for me! Clydes, DH, Hardtails, and Double butted spokes don't mix

2010 (new) outlaws, fairly light and super durable! Bolt them on and go... and in your price range.

Stick with the hubs you have, get a couple hoops and learn yourself how to build a wheel..... Like Bry said..... hard riding, big guys, and DB spoked jsut dont mix.... Tested and tried myself, broke spokes at the butt, nover broken a spoke when using regular ol 14 g spokes.

About the front hub...... a hub is a hub...... its a peice of metal with bearings it in..... Its centermass rotation, so weight isnt a Huge concern..... For a front hub your pretty much looking at the name

Thanks for all the input guys! As for a little background i'm 6'1" and 214 lbs. And I do get silly sideways in the air but always Land straight. ID like something light but I prefer strength. The ONLY reason I was going to get the outlaws is because they come in gold. Do the mavics????

I got 823's DB spokes brass nipples.
    BULLETPROOF!

buy the hoops/spokes/nips, lace em up :)

Cheap and indestructable: Outlaws or Transition 32mm wide, or 36mm wide rims

Well I would settle for black hoops if I can get gold nipples an or spokes. I'll start looking into the hoops tomarrow. 32 hole count hubs. If anyone sees a good hoop that comes in gold, or nipples/spokes send a link! Thanks again guys

823's only come stock in black, but they are a tried and true strong rim. if you really wanted gold, you could strip and re-anodise them gold though, since there aren't any steel eyelets on the rim.

other than that, might take a look at the spank subrosas. I've heard good things from a few people.

I noticed the reccomendation for the transition wheels..... Something to remember is that the revolutions are 32 spoke for the 32mm wide, and 36 for the 36mm wide.....
