I'm sure we'd have a much higher level of esteem if us kids were, say, moderators on a message board?

...and thanks for pointing that out. They'll have to change their perception of that event with what you say actually happened.

This looks like a blast, I definitely want to make it out there with you guys one of these days. Too bad I have finals Monday and Tuesday after the December Bootleg invasion trip :(

As it seems that this thread may be headed for the usuall as of late STR Down hill spiral I would like to shed a dif light on the weekend. I will own up to on of the crashes, One flat(Blew the tire right off the rim) and of course one of the dented rims. This said my day was saved by the generosity of others. The KHS boys were nice enoiugh to help me out with a compressor and some Stan's, Troy's dad hooked me up with Pedro's MOTO levers to get the tire back on and of course Roger helped with the mechanics and tools necessary to even contemplate the repair as I was completely unprepared for this event with no tools to be found.
When all of this failed to seal the old beat up High roller another young man came to my aid, and handed me a brand New Minnion DHR USt tubeless tire and asked nothing in return at the time, figuring that I would catch up with him after the repair and settle the debt everyone again hooked me up with the means to tear it all back apart and fix it right. Bottom line is after 4 attempts to reseat the new tire on the bent rim with a rimstrip that was moving around everything finally came together and my day was back on track. I was unable to find the tire doner at the end of the day and when I pm'd him this morning this is what I received

Yeah that was me. I totally forgot about that, and ended up taking off early Saturday.

Don't worry too much with it, just pass the deed on to fellow riders in need. :)

It is people like Mike (COW) that keep me coming back this sport. I have passed on everything from Patch kits to cranks to people needing parts and I must say that I am thankful for his generosity

This was a great weekend it was my second trip to Bootleg and will not be my last...

Thank you Roger and DenMo for getting us all together, Justin and Allison for dragging my @$$ out there, my room mate Kim for making it affordable, everyone involved in the tire ordeal and especially Mike for hooking me up with the tire and resurecting my Sat of riding...

Wow! Last time I checked, I dont even know you. Its been awhile since I was called a kid too. Self esteem issues? I dont think I was the one who had to bring 23 other people with me so I could feel like I was cool.

I guess you and the rest of the elitist have lost touch with reality. I was listening to her freaking out to the shuttle driver to get my friend off the truck. Saying he wasnt part of "the group".

I was not there but I know the reason for the size of the group. They had to have so many people for them run shuttle on Friday. So yes they had a large group but there was a reason. I also believe they had to pay for this in advance.

PS nice way to start your time here.

If it will help lessen the drama I'll say that I did not notice anyone being rude. I think anyone that knows Denmother will have a hard time buying that she was. Maybe I missed something.

I hope the walk to the other shuttle truck didn't ruin your day. I know I had a good time.

I feel so important being labeled "elitist". I just thought we were a bunch of mountain bikers having a good time. If I would have known I was "elite" I would have kicked those interlopers off our shuttle later that day.

Seriously, sorry if you felt put out, it certainly wasn't intentional. A lot of the guys I rode with that day I met for the first time and every one was chill.

Here's an e-beer for your troubles  (You too FYM, although you're local. I'll give you a real one)

i don't think it will help at all if i post, but figured i would add my piece.

i was probably the reason the that the guys got booted from the shuttle. i was "part of the group" because allison and i had been part of the organization of this trip from the beginning (months ago). i introduced myself to the guys that got booted, but i am sure that is no consolation. when we originally talked to denmo about this ride i asked that it not get posted on STR so i don't think that anyone should necessarily feel that STR caused any drama.

although it sucks that you guys didn't get on the first shuttle with us due to lack of room, i did appreciate the fact that denmo made sure i was on the shuttle with everyone else. i think that having the foresight to arrange to have a shuttle available weeks in advance is responsible, not elitist. she wanted to make sure that people like me didn't get assed out after planning ahead.

i appologize that you guys got booted for my sake. in reality though, since denmo made the arrangements and the truck was indeed filled to capacity (at least for the first trip) then i say the ownership of your angst would be the fact that the second shuttle truck wasn't already there in the lot! a second shuttle truck was warranted due to demand. the shuttle guys were aware of the extra demand well in advance!

although it had to have sucked to be turned away from the first shuttle, i am glad that there was a second truck that eventually showed up.

hope your time on the trails didn't suck. i had a blast.

as for any asshats that have something against me personally, if you ain't with me then don't expect to roll. sorry bout your luck.

Yea I guess I would not say rude I just thought Den Mother and me were cool with each other even though I really don't like her adopted kids. I kind of held her in such high regard like a fine wine, like OMR. I actually think Den Mother is a nice lady and she and Roger have both personally hooked me up with pedals on my first trip to bootleg. I was just taken back when I did recieve the stink eye from her and others. I am cool with that now I know where I stand. With my mouth and my honest call it like you see it I really don't care for her adopted kids so I understand where she my not like me as well.

Overall I really don't care anymore I had a good time anyways, regardless I would have gotten on that shuttle if I paid my money. It may have not been the cool kids shuttle but I would have gotten on somewhere. Thats all I have to say about that. I am sure Den Mother would have treated me differently if her kids were not their. :?:

    I love you all.

don't want to derail such a productive thread, but...

I won't be racing in Argyle anymore.

Good luck to Tani and their racing team next year! I look forward to seeing all my racing pals on the hill.

    Blame It On No Water!

Having started riding with Nancy and Roger I am glad that I can call them friends. In those rides I have met most people who were on that "ELITE" shuttle. But everyone knows I can barely keep my feet on the pedals and no one has ever ran me off or said a ride was exlusive. I got to hang and have beers with cool peeps and Cow was cool enough to take a few pics of me. (Note to self pack more 1554 as there are other people who drink my kind of beer ). I even ran Kim up to get a run in when she was dealing with work and missed the truck and was loosing daylight.

I think this whole mess can be blamed on the fact that all the crap just sat in the bowl and would not go away cuz the water was off. THOSE THINGS STANK!!!!

Can't wait till the next ride gets put together!!!!!

    Big Thanks Nancy and Roger,

This was my first trip to Bootleg Canyon, I honestly did not know what to expect, Stinkyrider aka (Al Bundy) has been pushing me to go since last years STR trip.

Well these were some of the panic stricken thoughts going through my head on my first trip down.........this is some serious serious rocky technical $hit, exposure, drop exposure, big drop quick turn, more exposure where's the trail, that's the trail, this could get very ugly.

From the second run on tunnel vision began to kick in (thank god), I stopped thinking about jagged exposure, and impalement, and I began to relax and flow with the terrain. I definitely can't wait to come back and ride this place again.

    Interesting observations:

The Casino Hotel we stayed I think it was called "Hells Waiting Room & Casino". It was like stepping back into time, 70's cover band, elderly people chain smoking and playing slot machines with two hands, like there life depended on it, The Casino restaurant had a great breakfast buffet, and nobody complained about riding my Sunday around the lobby.

Saturday Shuttle got a little over crowded, I think the shuttle driver brought his dog on one ride up we were packed in like sardines, Stinkyrider was the last man on the shuttle and had to sit on the floor boards with bull dog butt in his face, literally in his face.

I'm pretty sure We may need to find another Dinner restaurant to eat at, cough.....cough....Jeff....cough

It was great meeting and riding with everyone !

    Thx,
    Happy
