I am by no means qualified to answer in this debate because I've never tried Cytomax, BUT I have used Accelerade several times and notice a benefit drinking before going on a ride. Definitely helps me over drinking Gatorade, Powerade, Water, etc.

My worst experience was chugging down one of those canned "energy" drinks offered by a friend while setting up for a ride. Had the worst ever cramps and head rush. Probably the closest I've felt to dying and wasn't even to the top of Turnbull yet. Never again!

The only input I can give you is that I tried Heed last night for the first time and I HATED it. Ughhhh. It smelled like bubble gum, but had this weird slimy feel. I am going back to Gatorade for now, but will be trying your 2 options, Cytomax and Accelerade.

I pretty much maintain a regular pattern of rides week in, week out. I added Cytomax to my routine and noticed a difference. I might try the Perpeshitum, but it sounds so nasty. The one thing I have learned is the right food for breakfast makes all the difference. I switched over to yogurts and fruit, very little coffee, and some sliced turkey a few hours pre. Seems like when I break away from my routine, thats when I suffer and no amount of cytomax can dig me out.

I like the taste of Cytomax and thats all that matters to me...b/c if I can't drink it it won't work....I bought Heed(orange) on vacation and it tasted HORRIBLE....BUT rather then throw it away I added some orange Gatorade to the mix...don't know it that helped or hurt me but atleast I was able to drink it w/o having a nasty taste....

I just noticed on the Accelerade bottle that it contains milk (source of whey). Interesting.

    Well...

    An updated comment.

I have been experiencing leg pump and burning early in races...never previously have before. I thought it was due to being out of shape and not enough base miles. I find it very hard to ride the single when this is going on.

When I was using cytomax during the endurance races...I used to shotgun some accelerade periodicly during the race in my transistions for the protien and a change up.

I have heard many talk about the protien thing and was kind of sold. So I started using it full time....

Well....I went ahead and bought some more Cytomax...even though I still have accelerade and ran it during the race today....limited leg pump and not much burn. Almost 100% improvement compared to last weekend and we did the same course, gearing etc.... so it rules out easier.

I will use it a few more times to see if the results are consistant.....Then make a decision. But I used to use it and never experienced what I was without it...

Thanks for all you inputs

    Side by Side Analysis

Slow day at work and interested in a good comparison I threw the nutritional data into an excel format and created a comparison that equalizes the serving size to 35 grams so you can clearly see the breakdown of a few common nutritional products. I will leave the interpretation/application to all of you, but for what it is worth, here is the attachement... View attachment Nutritional SidebySide.pdf
