I want to ride Saturday and there has been some interest expressed in climbing Hwy 39 (now that we can). Who's up for an 7:30am ride?

It's still closed past East Fork I'm pretty sure. Check before you go.

Nope, they opened it. I actually went up there once already. They are working on the guard-rails, but letting traffic go one way at a time.

    Sorry! Heal well!

They don't ever seem to have a problem letting cyclist up, even when it's closed. That may have changed w/station fire. A great ride though.

I'd think about parking at the OHV area, and riding from there. Would cut out a big chunk of scaryness on 39.

eh, you get the idea. Some way of avioding sharing the road with assholes in jacked up trucks or on sportbikes. I just don't like dealing w/ people doing canyon runs at mach 2.

Those people aren't driving there because there is road work going on. Flagmen. Delays. Traffic in one lane only. Bikes get to ride in the other lane. What more could you want?

I remember coming home from a camping trip next to the bridge to nowhere.

There were like 6-7 roadies coming up the 39...

I have no moral to my story. Just thought that it was pretty cool.

"assholes"? ...funny snap. Sounds like fun to me...you just need to bring the right machines for the right roads.

Looks like we can do it a month from now. Which will make the climb a little cooler... :)

Tomorrow, I'll be exploring the Wrightwood to Islip section cause it'll be new to me.
