...does anyone know if it's still possible to create groups? It seems that a new one can be made, but nothing can be done with it.
    ...Thanks

Unfortunately the only thing you can do with a Social group is to create it and then decide whether or not it is public or private. Anyone can join public, private is by invite only. Each group member can post there and post photos, but you cannot send messages to the group, nor do you get any notifications.

Thanks very much denmother. That would be ok, but i cant seem to get the page to open or anything. I see the group in the list of available groups (the mountain goats), but when its clicked on nothing happens.
    ..any ideas? ..again, thanks:)

Did you make it public or private? I see it too but can't open it.

And I'll be damned if I can find out where the groups are located on this forum...again.

Is there any hopes for adding the feature to receive notifications for a social group any time soon?

Treetopmike - I just tested the social groups creation system and everything works. Click create a group and complete the name, description, and select whether or not it's a public group. If you're still having trouble, pm me and I'll walk you through it.

The social groups function would be really great if we could just have the option to subscribe to a group.

    Moderators? Is this possible??[-o-]

You can become a member of a group but you will not receive notifications.

I realize that but I wondered if it was possible to add that functionality at some point.

Just putting it on the wish list but otherwise more than happy with STR.:bang:

Is the subscription to groups functional now with the new version of STR? I see it in our group, but the subscription doesn't show up in the Personal Settings->Subscription list. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes there are new features for Groups. You can now subscribe to a group by going into the group and then selecting Group Tools (on the right hand side) and then selecting Subscribe to this Group. You can also create separate discussions also and you can subscribe to them individually. On the right hand side select Disscussion Tools then select Subscribe to this Discussion. Great news for those of us who use groups!!!

And there's a tab up top in the main nav too.
