    Now that's funny!

My guess is that you're probably that outlier that's snapping these pedals. For the normal weight weenie XC racer crowd that will pop for these pedals.. they're probably not breaking them?

Maybe you should not mention the panniers with beer in it. That might void the CB warranty.

Mark, in one of last year's posts you said something about preferring the feel of the ti model when clipping in and out. So why not just have CB put a stainless spindle into the existing Ti pedal?

I appreciate that you are taking responsibility for your choice, but there's still an underlying question that needs to be answered: Why are you running ultralight pedals and then more than doubling their effective weight by carrying a spare pair?! I was  when I read that! Then again, carry as much extra weight as you want. Maybe when you get to carrying 100lbs of extra weight I'll have a chance of keeping you in sight!

Oh yeah, there is that other underlying question: WTH is CB doing about correcting this design problem?
    :?:

Yeah, I'm finding out about lots of "unwritten warranty" rules ;) That is what the beer hauler isn't running Ti pedals.

They were a gift ;) Someone really loves me.

Lol! Mybe they can pick me up on Main Divide next time?

Probably will be the plan this time.

I was with you on the first break of those spindles. I have not been down Joplin again.

There's a dude in Michigan who is making ti spindles for CB pedals. He says there are no weight limitations on his, and that his material is superior to that used by CB. Check it out at www.tispindles.com

You can buy 2ti, install his spindles, and still end up cash ahead.

Ok, here is the update... went to CB today.
Amazingly, the service manager remembered me form the last time ;)
They again gave me the "no SS" line and I explained that is was a 'Cross bike for god's sake and it was geared 34x22!!

So, they are replacing expensive but useless Ti spindle with a stainless one "for safety" and they showed me some other options that might make me happy.

We shall see what transpires over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for the reports.

    Thanks! Will do that.

    Fixed it for you ;)

Mark - No doubt the guy remembers you: How many SS cross bike riders are breaking pedals on Joplin??!!
Glad to hear they made it right for you...again.

    Not exactly yet.
Basically my nice $400 pedals are now worth about $100 #-oBut they are safe! :-k

Lets just say that they are looking at the issue and understand that I'll be very unhappy without some further action/replacement/compensation.

I'll give 'em a chance since it seems like they really want to solve the breakage issue for me.

You know, all you'd have to do is spend a few thousand on suspension and gears, and your $400 pedals would probably be just fine ;)
