This movie is going to be as popular as the "I want to die young" song that fell off the charts this week...

This is exactly the point -- The U.S. is a bunch of immature children that need to be constantly told what we can or can't do. We can't have guns without killing each other at rates 5 times higher than the rest of the developed world, so the only solution that anyone can come up with is we need to have our guns taken away. Unfortunately it's too late to change the culture.

It is not too late to change our culture, but unfortunately too many don't want to. There are too many that think if they were strapped while riding their bike on SART that they'd blast away like Bruce Willis in Die Hard any bike thieves.

No the point is banning guns won't make a difference people will always have a way to get their hands on them. Remember when alcohol was banned? People still got drunk.

Its true. I was debating this in my head and thought about prohibition and how it led to the creation of some of the first organized crimes. Banning guns might be the wrong way to go about this.

which is strange because the data show that, in other countries where guns were "banned", gun deaths/massacress/whathaveyou are extremely low.

    it's not me, it's data . . .

Data also shows that drunk driving kills roughly 10,000 people a year. Should we ban alcohol?

Does that data factor in drugs, gangs, and or mental illness? Those countries don't have nearly the same issues the US does. The US has a societal problem not a gun problem. There's no respect for the human life. Banning guns will just cause more crimes.

NRA finally chimed in......they want armed guards at schools.

Some school campuses are already like prisons....tall fences, video surveillance, no movement without an escort, metal detectors. And now armed gunmen. Makes you really want to be there.

Columbine had an armed guard. So did Virginia Tech.

    Chris rock's solution

Anybody, remember Chris rocks bit on gun control...don't control the guns, just make bullets expensive.

"I'd shoot you but you're not worth it!"

This is a great discussion. Like many have said, I agree it is a violence in our culture thing.

Are we willing to start with not allowing our 11 yr olds to play Call Of Duty on Xbox, limiting kids access to "R" rated violent movies, banning the show "Cops" or the UFC?

Just examples of a beginning for real change-our culture. These are some "means" to the end too if you believe guns are the sole factor. Gun control is the easiest as the responsibility is shifted away from the individual.

Changing our culture to be more compassionate to our fellow human beings will be the greatest challenge.

I think that was initially taught to youngsters to respect their elders or they'd get a whoopin'. Kids are not often raised to have respect, because there are rarely consequences for poor behavior. But this starts another discussion.

According to the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, gun deaths in the U.S. are heading to out pace traffic deaths as traffic deaths are declining as cars are safer and drunk driving is down.

Look closer at the data though, and you'll find that over 62% of gun deaths are suicides... But of course most news articles written by "journalists" are leaving that part out...
