Does anyone have any past experience of what to expect as far as weather in Aliso Woods during March and/or visitors who frequent the park at that time?

I used to live about 1.5mi from the park and used to ride when ever I had a chance but I moved south to O'side 3 years ago and haven't been there since.

I'm trying to put together a group ride with a few of my co-workers and I would like to plan accordingly so that there aren't too many surprises when we show up.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Cold at 7AM.
I've seen frost on the ground between the Ranger Station and Wood Canyon.

Cold in the mornings, mild/hot towards the afternoons.

Unless you mean trail conditions? Not much has changed. Rockit got smoothed out in the last section and Five Oaks is a little more groomed than normal, but everything else is pretty much the same. If it rains though, watch out for ruts and mud, and wait a few days after the rain stops to ride in the park.

If I had to guess, it would be some combination of:

    1. Nice (lots o' wildflowers) and

    2. Crowded (if you're there on a weekend) and

    3. Fun

There have been some parking changes at Canyon Vista Park (red curbs in one section), so watch out if you park there. If there is any rain close to your ride, you can check conditions at ocparks.com. Enjoy!

March weather can be different every year, no way to predict. Somtimes it rains a lot in March, sometimes dry as a bone, usually mild temps but heat waves can happen. Really no way to "plan accordingly" six weeks in advance. If a lot of rain happens, park may be closed on whatever dates youre planning so have a plan B (santa anas)

Thanks everyone for your input. From what I have gathered I need to wait until we are closer to March before picking an exact date depending on the weather and to shoot for around 10:00am during the week days to avoid the cold/heat along with the crowds.

The route I have picked out is MILF park ---> up Cholla ---> down Rock It ---> Coyote ---> up Mathis ---> down Car Wreck and then the main trail back to MILF.

We'll be riding these trails on a mixture of bikes, everything from XC 26" & 29er to 5" travel trail bikes. I'm planning on going out to recon/survey the trails before I make my final determination on what the riders and their bikes can handle.
