Chopper, yes, please bring the tool trailer. The park authorities seem to think they will not have enough.

You can always tell when I'm stuck in the office and not out in the dirt, since there's an unusual amount of beer postings those days! And I have Russian River on the brain since I'll be there saturday...

Sam - are big pruning shears useful? I'm trying to think of what other clearing impliments would be best suited for this...

PM your phone number. I'll make sure you get up.
Most of the brush is dry mustard grass and the like. There are very few branches that need to be cut, so I wouldn't bother bringing shears.

please don't show up empty handed.

I am not cooking anyone breakfast, not even myself. There is a good chance there will be cold beers back at my place afterwards.

I picked up the tool trailer today and it is ready to go. I will plan to be there at 6 am to follow you in. I am assuming you are meeting at the Elvinar entrance, correct?
There should be plenty of tools to go around and I noticed a couple of cases of water and some energy bars in there too. I understand the Warriors Society is bringing refreshements so there should be plenty of fluids for everyone.
Once everyone is there and off to work, the wife and I will head out to find some food for lunch. Probably Subway or a taco place unless you would rather have pizza.

Let me know if there is anything I have forgotten.

There are a couple of safety issues involved with the tools so if you wouldn't mind I would like give a quick safety talk prior to the work.

I don't want to come across as a trail maintenance know-it-all but it is my profession and in my opinion the only power tool that will work on dormant mustard is a heavy duty power hedge trimmer. With weed whackers the mustard tends to just wrap itself around the business end and clog it up. For hand tools, the long bladed shears and those swinging things work the best. There is a trick to using the swinging grass trimmer that I can show you on Sat.

See everyone there, it's going to be hot as blazes so be prepared.

Looking forward to it. A rake works well to rip the mustard out of the ground and clear the path. See everyone on Saturday morning. I will be there at 6 am at the Elinvar entrance.

I don't think I am going to bring my bike because after 5 hours of trail work, I will just want to eat and shower.
