Let's not play politics on this discussion.

Besides, i don't think that 'liberal' statement really holds water here...

    Just re-writing dirtvert's signature. Surely it's political.

    Screw Arnold.

I'm not scared, Arnold! I'm willing to live without State Parks.

Let's make sacrifices for the good of all. Close all State Parks. Then look for the next place to make cuts. I'm calling the politicians' bluff. The Parks are nothing compared to the whole budget.

We all have our political views but since this is a forum designed to bring people together rather than focus on our differences, let's all try to make our point without alienating those with different views.

Can you smell the thread lockdown coming?

Less gripe, more action. Sign the petition, keep the parks open for EVERYONE. Not just MTB'ers.

Okay, I don't have the numbers to back this up but I've got to believe that running these parks for the most part is a very good money making enterprize. This last year I stayed at state parks almost all the time as they have cheap hiker/biker campsites and good showers. It seems to me like it would take money away from the state. Every single state park I stayed in was at capacity every single day of the week. Now most sites rent at around 20 to 30 dollars a night and a lot of these parks had 500 plus sites That's 10,000 to 15,000 a day. I don't think the rangers are yanking down that kind of coin so where does all the money go?

CalEpic nailed it. How can you folks continue to vote for these selfserving yahoo's? You want real change? Vote outside of the two parties. Break the strangle hold they have on us and put someone in office that'll listen.

I just saw this sign at Chino Hills State Park entrance...

Here is the link that the flyer gave:

"Tell your legislator to oppose state park closures in one easy step at http://www.calparks.org/stopclosures then go to "Read & Sign The Letters".

    according to register article http://greenoc.freedomblogging.com/2009/05/29/chino-hills-state-park-proposed-for-closure/8077/

They also say that attendance at CHSP is between 100k and 200k "visitors" a year. Which btw much lower than other OC parks where, they say, attendance is in the millions, but those are mostly beaches I would guess.
I don't know what they call "visitor" - a car or a person - but at 100k visitors and $4 day use fee and not even counting camping... their revenue numbers don't seem to add-up.
