Ride Report Chantry Flats 03.08.2014

First time riding Chanty Flats and it was amazing! The best way to describe this trail is it's like a mix of San Juan and Holy Jim trail. Lots of exposure and sweet single track goodness! Trail condition was amazing except for the downed tree less than a mile riding down from Mt. Zion peak. Lots of hikers on the trail but all of them are cool and let us pass without a hitch. I'm not good in making ride reports but you can check the vids from the ride to see first hand the trail conditions.

I don't know if this is Sturtevant or Gabrielino trail. But we are able to get a break from the hikers on this section and was able to get a good run.

All in all it was an amazing ride. Just one minor mechanical and that's it.:wave:

It's a cool trail. But lots of hiker traffic. I didn't see any follow request from strava.

 

Go ride it Rox! I'll let you know if we have plans riding it again. You need to get there not later than 6:30am. Parking spots gets full easily. You will also need an adventure pass.

The best time to ride Chantry is never ride it on the weekend. So many walkers like Disneyland! Good RR

we did this Feb 17, it was nice and yes lots of hikers. at 9:31(1st vid) my buddy walked it, I tried to show him how to ride it and bammm OTB good choice to walk it. we didnt have any big tree to by pass so it was pretty much smooth sailing, wanna do it again before it gets too hot.

 

Best on weekdays, especially after a rain. Just rode UWC/LWC yesterday. ...nice!

 

That looks like an awesome place. I work in Irwindale. I may have to take a sick day soon.
