Explored a new (to me) area of the Anza-Borrego Desert a week or so ago - the Carrizo Badlands. I rode up Fish Creek Wash from near Ocotillo Wells and out Arroyo Tapiado and Arroyo Seco del Diablo for a nice lollipop loop. This is probably not an area that would be very fun on anything but a fat bike as the sand and silt were bottomless at times, but maybe under the right conditions it could be ridden with a normal bike. Right now some sections required pushing on the fat bike (at least by me :) others might be able to ride it), but it was still a great ride nonetheless! I'm starting to like this desert stuff.

There are more details and photos on my blog at http://knowth.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/the-devil-went-down-to-california/ , but here's a few photos. Thanks!

I think I 4x4ed some of that a couple of years ago. At least it looks similar. The landscape is surreal. Your pictures are awesome.

Thanks for the RR and great pictures. I really enjoy Anza borrego. I've ridden Carrizo Gorge and Coyote Canyon, so far.

Great pics, love that area. Similar is NE of Salton sea, Painted Canyon/mud hills and also Bradshaw trail a little further south. I've mostly done 4WD camping there, but tried riding a couple times on non-fat bikes, and yeah, it sucked. Gotta get me a fat bike...awesome desert canyons and washes all over.
