Carbon fiber repair, when done by knowledgeable people, is as good if not better than original, if sometimes slightly heavier. A carbon frame will not ding, ever. It can crack, or have sections crushed, but when that happens, an alu frame would most likely have had significantly more damage cosmetically, if not a total loss. Carbon frame repair is affordable. Just sayin... EDIT: The average alu rim is tensioned 110-120-kgf. Check out this new manufacturer's recommendation, 200 kgf!
