Waiting for :?: *sell one to buy one* how many times do i have to say it? #-odon't you use that rule at your house? I'm sure Mr. Neil already has the Salsa on his list
oh for sure Traci! i'm currently not actively trying to sell my ellsworth so i can clear the inventory for the big hoop, but i do have to wait for the new salsa 29'er FS if i want it i already txt'd neil LOL
I'm assuming it'll be released at Interbike. Or... anyone in the know happen to know if it'll be sooner?
the only details Jason mentioned on that ride were that Burner tried to pick up on him at the trailhead, if you know what I mean
Ok, good news and bad news - Good news is that I found settings that make the shock work better. Bad news is that it's not perfect and there probably isn't much more I can do w/o revalving the shock. Rebound still needs to be a little slower... At the slowest two rebound settings, the Monarch stopped donkey kicking the bike and it floated much better over roll-y type stuff. I also had to put a little more air pressure in than I thought I did, but it seems to work much better. So, next up on the agenda is learn how to revalve a shock. Wheeeee!
Much, much better! A New RP23 makes all the difference in the world:bang: Too bad mine is a Medium:lol:
I like the '07s better than the '08s. I think the rear shock is slightly better and the closeout prices (if you can still find one) make it a sweet deal. :bang: P.S. The stand over is a little better, too. I think The Path has a few '07s hanging from the ceiling (This was a few months ago).
crap... need to throw a 400 buck shock to get it to ride right.... 6.5" x 1.5 stroke? So the 07 was a VPP, and the 08 is a single pivot?
No. The 07s and the 08s are both faux bar linkages. That pic may of STRider's have been one of the early prototypes.
To be honest, after quite a bit of tinkering, I've gotten the Monarch 4.2 to behave much better, to the point where the ass end of the bike goes where I expect it and doesn't blow through the travel, while still feeling firm when climbing. I wouldn't sweat it too much, just ride the bike and save the money for tires.
not quite..you need to work at a bike shop:lol:! Having the ability to try things out first -at a reduced price- 99.9% of the time seems to help out the customer and answer the "I wonder" questions...I do have a Monarch 4.2 for sale:lol::lol:
Well, the saga of my Monarch 4.2 continues - It started to squeak on Wednesday night's ride, then on Saturday, I started to notice it was blowing through the travel pretty quickly - I thought I was just a badass and riding that much harder and needed to put some more air into it. If only... On yesterday's ride, about 4 miles into a 12 mile loop, it went to full stuck down. Ordered a RP23 last night. I'll get the Monarch replaced and then sell it.
