c2c2C = Coast to Clouds to Cook's (Corner). "OK, we will have one beer and then head back to Dana Point..." A few pitchers later:drunk:, we found rides back to the coast. We'll try again, but will have to save the  for the finish! Thanks, Doug for setting it up and buying Tink's entire basket of goodies for sharing. Also, thanks to the designated drivers. Happy Easter, STR!
Fun times! My camera had a grand total of 2 pictures on it. Really need to get better at that. Final route was Dana Point to Cook's, up Harding, down Joplin/Old Camp/Luge back to Cook's. Mark broke a pedal on Main Divide and we had 3 flats among the group (2 of them mine, including a sliced sidewall on Joplin). Something like 46 miles with 6500' ascent according to the GPS. This was my first time on Joplin/Old Camp/Luge, and I must say those are some super fun trails. Harding was also new to me -- not so much fun but definitely a scenic and pleasant climb. The combo of beer and Tink's baked goods at Cook's was fantastic. The beginning... And the end...
The baked goods were indeed good! Who knew that Guinness and macaroons would taste so yummy? On the pedal thing... I'm really interested to hear the excuse form Crank Bros. this time. Another 4Ti spindle snapped, this one while climbing on a SS 'Cross bike!!
i'm still too tired/traumatized to talk about it. jebus, what a day! still, already i'm thinking about the next attempt... i will say this: great bunch of guys to ride with (and one great bunny).
Thanks for organizing that ride. It was a great day out there even with the route modifications. If only there wasn't 65 psi in those tires Lets do it again before the heat gets too bad. Gerry
I thought it was going to be 'one of those days' when I got a flat on the initial asphalt climb from Cooks. Luckily, no more bike failures and hitting Joplin for the first time was a blast! And if having beers at Cooks wasn't enough, Gerry and I decided to hit up the night shuttle down San Juan later that night. Looking at my Garmin mid way down San Juan and the clock reading 12:00 am, I realized today could be considered pretty 'epic'. Thanks Doug for the day ride...and thanks Gerry for the wingman support on the extra credit! Binh
